There are a few youtube vids about repairing large screen TVs.

Usually the electrolytic capacitors start to leak and then fail. Sometimes it results in enough power problems to suddenly turn off TV and sometimes they 'go' a bit more gradually whereby your TV 'struggles' to turn on and will have a number of attempts before it does.

The vids make out that its an easy check and repair if you have a good equpiment to do it.

How old is it? If less than 2 years just get a new one. I've read that all electronic goods get a standard 2 years warranty in the EU and have put into practice with a phone. Didn't get a new phone but all the internals were changed and I got a decent phone back.

Good luck.

Probably the psu in the tv. Open the back up and take a peek, like its been said before, capacitors are generally the culprit, they'll look like they've bulged out and the tops will look the same. May be easier to get a 2nd hand psu board off ebay than fiddling with the original if you're not confidant in what you're doing. I bought a 2nd hand psu board for a samsung 32" lcd the other day from the bay, only £20.

How long has it been in the upright position.

Your crystals could of all sunk to the bottom of the screen so best thing is lay it flat for a while (about a day) then try turning it on again after that, if that doesnt work nothing will so just buy a new one;)
