TonyP Posted February 19, 2011 Share Posted February 19, 2011 We're watching tv tonight and all of a sudden the tv just turned itself off. No standby light, no nothing. AJI Posted February 20, 2011 Share Posted February 20, 2011 There are a few youtube vids about repairing large screen TVs. Usually the electrolytic capacitors start to leak and then fail. Sometimes it results in enough power problems to suddenly turn off TV and sometimes they 'go' a bit more gradually whereby your TV 'struggles' to turn on and will have a number of attempts before it does. I've read that all electronic goods get a standard 2 years warranty in the EU and have put into practice with a phone. Open the back up and take a peek, like its been said before, capacitors are generally the culprit, they'll look like they've bulged out and the tops will look the same. May be easier to get a 2nd hand psu board off ebay than fiddling with the original if you're not confidant in what you're doing. Your crystals could of all sunk to the bottom of the screen so best thing is lay it flat for a while (about a day) then try turning it on again after that, if that doesnt work nothing will so just buy a new one;) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
