JamieP
Standard depth for the foundations is 1m below ground level if you are complying to building regs.
peter richards
ok mate thanks , i take it thats the outside of the slab, what about the inner ?
JamieP
Im talking wall foundations, when you say inner do you mean the oversite slab? 6" concrete slab is good for a garage floor, can reduce to 4" if you mesh it.
peter richards
yes thats what i meant mate , just thinking i can do that myself , got a builder coming over sunday to give me a quote. whats the width jamie ok 1m deep but how wide ?remembering its a double skin
JamieP
600mm wide, depth depends on the ground, if lots roots or poor ground the building inspector may make you go deeper. Whats the size or the part you want extending? 4.5m x?
peter richards
4.5 to the right of the pic , whats there atm is 3.5 so going for 8m overall with a 14foot roller door. not sure of the depth mate at a guess its about 6m
JamieP
whats the area of the part you want to extend? 4.5 x ?
peter richards
6m , so should be 4.5x6
JamieP
4.5m x 6m = 27m at £500 per meter of floor space = £13,500+vat to give you an idea of what i would charge, you will most likely get it done for half that in Wales though;)
peter richards
had a builder up a few weeks ago , and for it all thats the base and the construction he quoted £11.700 inclusive but door was separate . so just getting a few quotes in before i decide
JamieP
Is that built to building regs or built off a slab? Thats a good price if he is a trusted builder mate, dont just go for the cheapest, get some feedback and ask to pop along to any local jobs they are doing for a look. Rob
Maybe enough to pay for some healthcare after you've damn near killed yourself doing all that manual labour.
