Pretty much everyone's insurance has gone up. It's risen 33.2% in 12 months over the whole industry. The main reason is people making personal injury claims, so blame the ambulance-chasers :)

:yeahthat:

When I had someone go into the side of my N/A the other week I was inundated with calls and texts telling me to claim, I kept on telling everyone that I'm fine yet they kept ringing me saying as I should claim for whiplash, even though I said I'm fine, some even said 'that's fine, go to the hospital though just incase you change your mind' What!! So incase further down the line I think, 'oh actually, I did have a pain I just don't remember feeling it'.

I wish people would stop claiming for whiplash it's just becoming a joke.

fake claimss in Blackburn is driving me nuts, it isn’t just the whiplash claims from accidents, their is a huge problem with set up crash for cash schemes. My van renewal has just come through from the brokers and it's up from £450 to £895 because the company I am with are refusing to take on any more custom from my post code. When I bought my supra I couldn't get one day cover for my wife to drive it home because of my post code and a good customer has a fraud investigation company that mainly deals with fraudulent insurance claims. I've talked to her about it and apparently in my area it's out of control and the insurance company’s know it. Thing is the wont prosecute incase they loose, I hate the way it's seen as a victimless crime when we are the one's that are paying for it.

Just had my renewal from Sky, TT jspec bpu, Old git, 9yrs ncd protected, East Northants £540, will get some comparisons next week after reading what others are paying. I was shocked this week when I shaved £500 off my house insurance, renewal with L&G £750, Budget direct £221 with same excess and same cover, How do they vary so much, I fear they rely on people not shopping around and just renewing as a matter of course.

Organised insurance claiming is only going to get worse - seems so easy for people to set it up and make big money from it.

Just remember to keep a camera in your car in the event it happens to you and take as many photos of the damage as you can.

My uncle hit someone who slammed on in front of him at a clear roundabout, he reacted quickly so it was a low speed collision, minor scuffs to the bumpers etc - but come claim time the guys car had inherited more damage than was initially caused.. Had my uncle had a camera and taken pics they wouldnt have got away with it.

Incidently it was the guys 4th claim of the year involving a rear collisions according to the insurance investigation people.

Even if they clamp down on insurance fraud though will the price drop, or will it stay because were already accepting and paying it?

If your worried about the false claiming, the customer I was saying about also sells survalence equipment for lorries to catch out people causing crashes on purpose. Apparantly their is a huge demand for it so the business has really took off. I personally don't like the idea of having cameras on my car watching me all the time but if you don't mind that you could get the same system set up

At least you are getting quotes. The club insurance company wouldn't insure a modified Supra at my postcode! Despite limited mileage, overnight parking in a garage and me being over 40.

I blame these bloody a***holes who have been causing accidents. 2 of the mofos from round these parts are currently being detained at her majesty's pleasure!

As it happens got a great deal elsewhere anyway, far cheaper than they could have offered even in a "safe" post code.

Had the same problems as you with 2 other policies towards the end of last year, but shopping around got the price to pretty much the same as the previous year.

Good luck.
