Another one of those "suggest a car for me" threads

With the MR2 gone, and not planning on getting the Supra until the summer (unless Keron has some good news for me regarding a certain silver one..!), I think it's time I get a new daily/fun car that can bridge the gap.

Here are the criteria:

- Must be less than ten years old

- Must be a saloon

- Must not be a Merc or Audi

- Fuel consumtion/economy doesn't really bother me, as long as it isn't above insurance group 20

- Would like to be able to get the car in black

- Must be able to get it with leather seats

Budget for all this is probably 6k, would prefer to spend closer to 5.

I REALLY like the Chrysler 300C, but the price of a good one would stop me getting a Supra this year. Hmm..

I've seen this that is the sort of thing I like:

Worth a shot :D Are you bothered about performance or petrol/diesel? If you're ruling out Audi, does it mean you're not keen on VWs either? :)

I don't really like the styling of Audis more than how they are put together - I wouldn't say no to a VW if the right thing presented itself. Don't care if it's petrol or diesel, and aslong as it is nippy enough to do third lane motorway speeds and keep up with everything else, then I'm happy with that.

Lada.

Good call.

Looks alright but I am not too sure about them wheels.... makes the brakes look small :p

Why no Audi tho? The 4.2 V8s are pretty beefy :D

As above, styling of them. Although now you mention V8... :)

What about lexus? I think they do a 4ltr v6, probably cheap now with petrol costs! Shame you can't stretch to the 300c, a lot of car for the money.

Or monaro? Might have to stretch the budget a bit again tho.

Lots of choices with BMW as well, prob one of the more sensible options for a saloon.

I think the 300C is a magnificent car for the money. Very tempting indeed.

Monaro I'm not so keen on.

Lexus is something I'll have a look into - not too familiar with their range of cars. Can you recomend any in particular?

BMW: the obvious choice for a saloon, the 5 series. Bit boring though, maybe. Unless I can find an M5 for that money...

Maybe if you go on Autotrader and have a look at all cars in your price range, by manufacturers you like, it would be a bit easier than randoms shouting out car brands for you to come up with obscure reasons why you wouldn't want one.

Just saying :)

Where's the fun in that! I love looking at cars so will gladly help someone decide on models. I just bought a shower based on someone's recommendation from here.

To OP, you'll get a 530d for your budget, but it will be around 2001-2003 and high mileage. Can be expensive to run but superb cars.
