JamieP
Zirotec want about £900 to heat coat my new whifbitz twin gate manifold, downpipe and screamer pipes with there high performance coating, they do a cheaper less effective one for about £600, now thats a lot of money, i dont mind spending the money if i think its a worth while purchase, But considering my air filter lives in the bumper and wont be sucking in hot air from the engine bay do you think its worth doing? Cheers.
hodge
I don't think what you would gain would justify 900 quid Jamie or even 600 to be fair. I'd leave ya cash in the bank if it was me.
j_jza80
From what I understand, these guys are MUCH cheaper: http://www.camcoat.com/main/coatings/ Not sure how it compares, but i'd be wanting to see some quantifiable evidence for £600 or more! mark newman
spend the money on somthing else , I can not see the benifit from it ,as you will probley change the set up within 6 month But thats what I think.
Jurgen-Jm-Imports
jza80 engine bay has a lot of room to breathe so you might not need it mate, but the vr38 and greddy kit is so tight that all big HP R35 GTR use the coating.

j_jza80
http://www.zircotec.com/ loads of info, test results and case studies available on their site Some interesting looking stuff there. I meant quantifiable gains against other brands, rather than a comparison of standard vs coated.
JamieP
I have asked Lee to go ahead with the zirotec, thanks for the input.
Lee P
I have used camcoat, they are alot cheaper and I wasn't happy with the results. I had to wrap over the top of mine. That really put me off coating until now. Zirotec do alot In F1 so that's an idea of how well it works.
Rob_Mitchell
gold plate it, gets rid of heat even better and looks shiney
Bailey.
There work looks mint no dought about it, and by there site looks like it's mighty effective, but think I'll stick to a descent branded heat wrap, if it's good enough for half the cars at Wales gb this year it's good enough for me. Oh and my pockets arnt as deep as yours Jamie,
Lee P
Its an alternative really, wrapping works very well but gets very brittle so doesnt last. It will look alot nicer that wrap. Also this coating has proven to work better that wrap on alot of race cars. TDI have done some testing on one of their customers race cars and this was the only thing that could manage the heat. The design of Pauls manifold (which is very good by the way ) makes it quite hard to wrap aswell.

Abselouty , money no object, zirotec all the way, just not for my penniless pockets, the coated manifold Paul has on the twin wastegate thread looks crazy, will be good to see some results and comparisons. Scott
Would there not be a danger of the gold melting on the manifold? Pretty sure the melting point of gold is fairly low.
