This is where I've stuck my MBC - just checking

Right first off, sorry about this thread, as I'm sure this has been covered literally hundreds of times. But I have found so many different ideas on where to stick these damn things I thought it best to check. :)

I got this MBC off of ebay the other day, and as far as I can make out it's a ball and spring relieving type mbc. I've plumbed it in from the wastegate vsv to the actuator, as this seemed to be the most sensible of all the other ideas I'd found.

I cant take the car out for a spin myself to test it as its on a sorn at the mo, and I'm currently a month off getting my license back :innocent: but I did get the old man to take it for a quick spin in the village and all seems well. Just needs adjusting to give me 1.0 bar.

If this is right then hopefully others can use the pic I've posted to get an idea for themselves. :)

No, wrong place bud. You are on the wrong part of the actuator, on your pic you can see the one you should be between just above that. Where is the other end of the MBC going? Into the VSV? What guide did you follow?

Not sure if you have the correct understanding of how this system works but you shouldn't be anywhere near the VSV with a boost controller.

The hose coming off the actuator was blocked off on mine. Saw a diagram on here saying to do that too. Post 5 2nd picture

That was a EBC rather than MBC though. They different?

Yup, the EBC is far better at keeping the boost linear. The VSV that you have blocked off fluctuates the actuator to help control it and hold it closed for pre-spooling purposes. Not sure if blocking it off would make any difference with an MBC, but there is no "gain" control.... I think this is what that particular vsv basically does.

I have just stuck mine in and plumbed it into this pipe. the third outlet from the MBC -The bit that opens as you unscrew it, does that need to be attached to anything or can you just let it vent the excess off into the atmosphere?

That is a bleed valve, nothing needed to connect to it. Best to get shot of it though as they are very unreliable.
