j_jza80
It's my girlfreinds birthday tomorrow, so the two of us went to our local Xscape sno slope for an introductary skiing lesson. It's brilliant fun, I fell over a fair few times, we learned snow ploughing (controlling your straight line speed) and started some of the level 2 turning, which resulted in me falling over some more! My girlfreind is a bit of a surfer, so she took to it very well. The only thing I managed to do well was a downhill race, it's shocking how quickly you pick up speed! I would seriously recommend it to anyone looking for a new hobby, costing around £35 for an hour and a half for the first lesson. Another four, and i'll be allowed on the big slope The only downside I had was the two blisters on my ankles, i'd recommend that if you go, you get one of the staff to assist you fitting your boots correctly! I'd like to hear about other peoples skiing experiences
Attero
Ski-ing is my favourite sport! Where was that you did it. I haven't been ski-ing in a few years but I hope to be going away again next winter. I've been to Austria 3 times, and it's fantastic there! I picked it up pretty quickly since I was young at 13 when I started. I tried snowboarding at first, but decided my legs much preferred ski-ing. Fortunately, my brother and sister picked it up very quickly too (my brother being a snowboarder) and we used have races down Zell am See mountain in Austria, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zell_am_See. It was fantastic fun. My best moment was when I did exactly what you see in cartoons and films... I went off-pisting and went SMACK! Straight into a tree. And since it was all downhill, my ski's were impossible to pull myself back off. As a school of kids just ski-ed past laughing, eventually I had to roll around the tree. Was a very funny moment. Attero
Is that an indoor ski slope? They are a great way to learn! Better than dry slopes.
kill1308
Skiing is great fun, also one of my favourite sports (coming 2nd to climbing - which I'd also recommend if you've never tried it). Been to French Alps a few times and really enjoyed it there, also went to Ski Dubai last year which was the most amazing indoor slope I've ever been to, puts the ones in this country to shame, but that's Dubai I guess When I'm doing indoor skiing I never bother with the full sized skis as I find them cumbersome and don't feel the full benefit on the small indoor slopes. I always stick to Snow Blades which are like a shorter more manoeuvrable ski and much more enjoyable indoors I feel.

Brett 1
I went with the school to Switzerland a couple of times, was great fun. Also won the gold medal at the end of the week
