H7ERO
Battery relocation, E36BMW cable . . from a M3 no less, motorsport aproved Box from some boat supliers, a good box holds the battery secure.
H7ERO
Fitting the Fish bracket, the lower two bolts need a 2mm spacer (as acuratly i could measure with an engineers square and feeler guage) behind them to make it flush, the right side coil needs to be moved to the side of the engine, and one of the distributer wires re routed, or it would eb clamped by the bracket. There was also an inner arch clearance issue . . I hammered it well but the clearance wasnt enough so i had to use the other tool in my box, the grinder . . H7ERO
Mounting spacers for the charger, I made up on my lathe, had to get them down to about 86mm in the end With the charger mounted, I had a pack of 0.2mm shims to get it level with stright edge, very hard to measure acuratly, so we will see how the belts fare

H7ERO
oil return drain, made from some sensor already in the sump I wasnt using Its Mounted and spinning now well, oil feed and return sorted, belt aligned and tensioned, and even a filter sorted . . BFI anyone? Random pic of the car after I cleaned it for the first time since owning it.

Chris Wilson
I would put some sort of triangulation bracket back to the head, to stiffen it up and help stop any flexing under fast changing engine speeds, if you don't mind me putting my oar in? H7ERO
no thats a very good idea . . actually im upset i didnt think of that my self (i was brain farting along the lines of bracing it from the front) it does flex a little bit too much for a 10mm steel plate, a simple brace would add piece of mind
seba
Can't wait to see this in real life, but the biggest surprise for me still is that you actually took the time to wash your car, congrats on that

Chris Wilson
I have an issue again, sorry mate Air flow meters are not (normally) pressure compensated and will give incorrect readings if measuring compressed air. I would say it should be before the compressor housing of the supercharger. It may also not like compressed air from a physical strength under internal pressure point of view. Given an aftermarket ECU I would say bin it and do throttle / MAP err, map What ecu are you using for this machine?
H7ERO
This AFM is proven to be fine up to about 15psi in this location (source - http://www.lextream.com). I thought about all the above considerations, but would have still done it this way anyway to know for certain, in many other after market boosted aplications its also this setup (post compressor) and fine MX5s, hondas, 350zs , bmws etc. The nature of the vortech means there is little or no boost in cruising conditions anyway (The dump valve acts as a Compressor bypass too), In all the Post compressor sets ups i have researched the AFM having once reached its maximum capacity signals a switch to a super safe fueling map. An aftermarket ECU would be ideal, however this car is running the standard lexus ECU, (a 100 wires of fun) im a big believer in OEM ECUS, so i will continue untill it really does stop me, as opposed to might stop me. Il see how it goes, theres quite a few happy chappies on lextream with this set up, and a few strong indications that at this low boost no suporting fuel mods are required. when i dyno it i may see how she performs with the RRFPR disconected. My current pulley will only suport about 6psi, and this is fine for me, with my home made gearbox adaptor plate, w58 Gbox, and standard clutch, 10.5:1 compression ratio etc etc, running more boost is not really worth it to me (even fitting this is not necessary for me at all but I felt guided by fate to give it a go) gains at 6psi are excelent anyway (again lexstream for numerous dyno graphs etc) Also im a tightwad . . . . . its got me this far, this Car and all modifications is all in for about £2800 so far, Rising Rate FPR all the way! I would also like to say all coments are appreciated, . . theres always room for improvement, and im happy to explain / discuss any decisions I have made, if it wasnt for these topics online I wouldnt have contemplated such an undertaking. H7ERO
A picture of the final set up, an extreamly lucky find on ebay and I was on a 200mile round trip like a shot to collect the a Vortech super FMU (top right of the picture) this saved me a lot of money and time wating for one from america. Blitz dump valve flange was welded on and a cold air shield and duct fabricated. So after a weekend of pining after a test drive in it whist involded in a 24 hr kart race I booked her in at power engineering for a test run. 104 bhp increase @ just under 7 psi . . .Job done . . for now

H7ERO
well . . .iv got the larger injectors lying arround, iv ordered a 12psi pulley and im winning a dastek on ebay . . . . With the dastec you can run a few maps, so im going to use a wastegate to limit boost to 7 psi on one map then have another for the full 12. befor that tho i need to sort a static pulley tensioner, bracket brace and most probably water inection to cool the charge . . oh and im sure i need a better clutch soon. My biggest incentive for water inj is as a drift car it doesnt see much airflow anyway for an intercooler or chargecooler and then the other advantages
