Hammer
Cheers adam, The match has turned out rather good although a tiny bit dark in places, but very happy im just being over critical. Once its done we need a photo session! Definatly, but give me plenty of notice mate as I will need to get to work with the cleaning and polishing on a serious level to sit mine next to your sparkling Supe. We will have to sort it though mate, the Silver and Green on a sunny day with the blue sea in the background has got to be a win.

Behind the skirt cleaned up Paint on the lip Cleaned behind the bumper Cleaned behind the bumper Re painted Me fitting the lip Bumper back on! Re fitting the arch liners All fitted up Cleaning the skirts All tucked up for the night

TheTurtleshead
Please...Just drop a 6-Speed + TT Engine in this car! When you have spent so much time on it, surely it is better to carry on as opposed to sell it and start again?!
ripped_fear
That paintwork looks very good dude, so shiney, your car is so clean too good work as always Thanks dude im very pleased with how she is shaping up. Please...Just drop a 6-Speed + TT Engine in this car! When you have spent so much time on it, surely it is better to carry on as opposed to sell it and start again?! I haven't ruled any option out just yet but there is allot more factors to consider. Insurance, re sale value, donner mechanics etc etc.
ripped_fear
Today's updates First off I have reinforced my side skirts and repaired the cracks, didn't picture this Then we 3 staged polished it, my god does it shine now. Cheeky picture of the rear wheels which need some work, or should i say needed. Before After Put this in for paint to, just to give it a lift Then the other wheel... basically the lips clear coat was in very poor condition on the outer edge, they are going to be split and fully refurbed but for now, I machined the other edge and blended it to the lip, then we clear coated it. as a temporary measure. left this in the oven over night so fingers crossed. The lip itself is not just polished it has a a grain which runs around the lip, so i machined it flat to get a shine, then we used some abrasive paper to put the grain back. ripped_fear
Ok so today, first thing to do was get the rest of the new wheels on. Very happy with them. Right then it was time to hit the exhaust surround, that's right I actually finished it! As the carbon wrapping wasn't for me I thought I had been left with only one option carbon skimming.... Wrong! If you don't want to buy carbon then make it First we put a layer of silver onto it then stretched some netting across it, then dusted some black across. Then once dried removed the netting and dusted a fine layer of black across the whole thing to darken it a tad as the silver was too bright. Then a few layers of clear. The result isn't to bad, It would have been better with a finer mesh but I'm still happy. Now the removable numberplate, I wanted to keep it looking OEM so to do this what I have done is make a bracket which bolts in the mouth of the bumper and hooks up to join the factory numberplate surround it has worked too! 3 8mm bolts and i can remove the plate and the bumper is still smooth. Cutting up Shaping All painted and fitted Then it was just a case of another lick of wax roll her out the body shop for some pictures. Then of course I bolted the plate on and went for a spin. She is now back where she belongs, at home and ready for more work tomorrow

Next step is get the spats off and diffuser on, when it arrives. Then i fear the quarters will need painting, due to the spats rubbing on them, so arch roll will be done and the car dropped, and back end painted. Falling in love with her again. Hammer
"Falling in love with her again." Don't blame you mate, lovely Supra you have there and the work you've done is really paying off. Are you changing the colour of the wheels?

Don't blame you mate, lovely Supra you have there and the work you've done is really paying off. Are you changing the colour of the wheels? Thanks it is starting to come together now, just wish she had a bit more power. The wheels I'm thinking of doing silver, but the gunmetal in the flesh actually looks good. But I reckon silver with a highly polished lip will win me over. Why do you ask, you got an idea of a good colour to suit her? Guy my dad work's with said to go bold and do them candy red! Noz
Why is the front so high? Looks awesome finish mate.
Hammer
Yeh I like the gunmetal but I think it makes those wheels look small. I can see where your dads work mates coming from but I do'nt think it would suit your car. Personally I think your right and silver with polished lip will look spot on. ripped_fear
Why is the front so high? Looks awesome finish mate. Stock suspension for you :/ plus I have one of my old wheels in the boot weighing the back end down a bit. Yeh I like the gunmetal but I think it makes those wheels look small. Exactly my thinking the silver would make the wheels look bigger and being 17" they need all the help they can get lol. Glad you agree, when the time comes im pretty sure they will go silver
skippyboyo1
Jake mate, when your fitting your diffuser look on my build thread and you will find a diagram of the nuts an bolts I used and then where I bonded it also. I lived and breathed diffusers for like a month and after seeing a few at supra pod I'm glad I screwed and bonded mine and 100% glad I didn't self tap in to the bumper!!!!! Some proper bodge jobs out there or ones that are wonkey. I read someone fitted there's in 4 hours and after seeing it I can belive it. As said before it took me and a friend 14 hours and I always get comments how neat it is. Me and Keron did a walk around lookin at diffusers and he agrees put the time in when fitting and they look mint. I had to adjust my exhaust also Edited November 14, 2012 by skippyboyo1 (see edit history)
skippyboyo1
Oh and also, I'm sure you said your removing the spats permanently, I fitted mine with them..... Hence it taking so long. If you decided to do the same the spats won't fit over the diffuser without modification

If you decided to do the same the spats won't fit over the diffuser without modification Thanks mate I have your thread on bookmarks so i can use it as a reference, i do not intend to rush it. If its being done it will be done so properly. And the spats are going, its going to have a USA look to it so no spats, and hence the reasoning behind the Number and exhaust surround and no number plate on the front. May even go TRD rear spoiler not sure.
