Increased fan noise after filling up with Tescos 99

Okay this is a wierd one, and lets face it with me that is hardly a surprise. I had been running the car on 95 (Usually BP but sometimes Tescos). When I got the new engine though I did one tank at 95 and then switched to 99. Now I thought I might get some high revs (and another question about that in a sec) but it seemed to run fine on a trip of about 40 miles. Dropped my son off then put my foot down for a quick sprint and since then all I can hear is fan noise, and I'm talking bloody loud. At idle it is almost the same as normal but the higher the revs the louder the fan sounds (compared to what it used to be).

Now I opened the bonnet to have a listen and it definately sounds like its the fan but I don't understand why it would just suddenly be louder. there are no mechanical sounds of things catching etc and I tried reving it in park and neutral (automatic) and its still like it. I swear by the time the second turbo kicks in you can barely hear yourself think

The other one was idle speed. The donor engine was a manual. Should I change all the throttle sensors? The engine tends to hover at 1100 revs and 1800 when cold but does sometimes drop to 750 (where I beleive it is meant to be).

Any ideas?
