hogmaw
Got in the car this morning started it up like normal and immediately knew something was up, the sound was all deep rumbling and loud chugging, just like a Scooby! Very strange, so I went up the road a bit, engine was cold so I didn't go too fast but the car did feel sluggish, so I came back, switched off and waited a bit thinking what's up. Then switched on again and all back to normal (thank god)! Apart from a Subaru ghost getting into my machine and then getting scared off again what could have happened there?! Gaz6002
Sounds like you could have a dodgy connection to one of your coilpacks causing your car to stop firing on one cylinder to me. I could be wrong, but that's the first thought that sprang to mind. Check those first
The-Plethora
Yup I would go with that as well, when you went up the road how fast were you going?
dave finch
yer coil pack or plug breaking down so its only running on 5 cylinders most probably
Lukeyboy2k
+1 for coilpacks. I had similar issues which were resolved with replacement coilpacks.
KamaSupra
I had a similar problem once last summer, I also turned off engine and waited a while. When I turned it back on it run fine and has done ever since. I presumed it was something to do with me not allowing the car to cool down after a good thrashing an hour before. I always let it cool for a couple of minutes, apart from this time I forgot. You may be lucky like me and problem won't arise again
sams
mine has sounded like a scooby (only on cold start up) ever since i got it,, could one your injectors be sluggish/blocked when cold so not fueling the same as the others when cold i just had new plugs, packs and clips done lol and i dnt have lack of power, i blame my exhaust for the sound of mine
Nic
It won't have been firing on all 6 cylinders, as said dodgy coil pack connection would be the most likely culprit. If it's not the connector it could be a damaged wire, spark plug, one of the coil packs or a fuel injector. Swampy442
Yeah +a million for coil clip. Are you anywhere near Wallingford? I could take a look for you
hogmaw
Started ok this evening and as it happens a new coilpack set was only installed a few months back while trying to sort out another problem so I'm hoping they're not failing already, so I will put it down to 'gremlins' unless it starts happening again. THX for the input guys Swampy I'm in Watlington so not too far from Wallingford
