Right people, seeming as everyone else is insured on their supras apart from me, i thought it would be best to ask for some recomendations, whos a good company for insuring an import supra?

Info:

Im 20 with 2 years no claims, dont know if its 3 years now, clean driving license, been driving a 1.6 primera for 3 years

1993 NA AUTO IMPORT SUPRA SZ

Modifications are

Front bumper

Eyelids

Side skirts

Rear bumper and spats

Spoiler

17" Aftermarket alloys

PIAA aftermarket horns

Apillar mounted extinguisher

Painted dash panels + callipers

Deleted rear seats

And thats all my aftermarket bits, every other single part on the car is factory, even down to fluids.

What kind of price should i be expecting?

thanks, Kevin

Sorry to say but I think you should be expecting £2,000 at the very least. The average premium for 17-22 year olds is £2,251.

Also, don't forget to declare the paint job.

Not bad, ill be doing it monthly so i guess 30% ontop to, but still not to bad with mods

When are you 21? If it's soon you should wait will probobly be quite a bit cheaper, I'm 22, 2years nc, mines a tt jspec auto I pay 1600, I wasn't insured for nearly two years though, that's why mine is a lttle bit more expensive apparenty

your price sounds about bang on mate, i pay 1500 for my tt jspec auto (bpu) 21 with 3 yrs no claims.

evin wait till you turn 21 as you fall in a lower risk catorgory when

Everyone is different and as a result no one can tell you who will be best for you. No one is going to get you the best quote but you i'm afraid, get some leg work done and check all the insurers you can find. If you can't be bothered just accept the first quote, job done. It will cost you an hour or two of your time but could save you a small fortune, I hate insurance companies so I'll be damned if I give the thieving gits more than I have to!!!

give sky insurance a call but like the lads said your age is your down fall it will cost you loads maybe you should'nt have got the car b4 get quotes

He has had this/other supras since he was like 16 just not driven it lol

Give sky or Adrian flux a call kev and see what they say the price difference will be when your 21. Might find it's not that much. Ether way I don't think it will be cheep. Northampton isnt the cheepest area for insurance mine on the uk tt is 1200 with 5 years ncb But I've found Adrian flux to be more flexible regarding ages. Sky wouldn't insure me on the tt till I was 25 but Adrian flux would.

Not sure you could insure it on a classic (with the company I forget the name of but they are mentioned on here) until your older but might be worth a try.

I'm 20, 21 in early April and I've got quotes for now and quotes as if I've just turned 21, the difference in the two is about 100% for me.

4k for now, or 2k in April. I'm certainly waiting.

PS - it's actually cheaper for me to insure a Supe if I buy a TT auto import (I was planning on an N/A) - I think the cheapest quote I got for a manual N/A is 1800, an 1500 for an auto TT. Nuts eh??? I was going to be the sensible one and have an N/A to get used to the car, but the insurance companies WANT me to drive with more power :D

Sky won't insure you if you're under 23. They seem to make exceptions if you have experience of RWD cars, which of course you don't.

Try Admiral and I know it's a PITA but see if it's cheaper if any of your family will move to them and go on a multicar with you.

As I said, when my 3 years NCB is added, I'll be paying about £400 less by going on the multicar than it would be if I was with Admiral on a single policy :)

Not sure they will take imports or modified cars tho

Guys I just wanted to give you a heads up, just renewed my insurance with Adrian Flux, was with Keith Michaels last year but they put the price up by over 250 pounds, no idea why. Anyway Adrian Flux did me a good price, I said I was happy to pay a deposit and the rest each month for the next 9 months. Got the credit agreement through and happen to read the small print where it states I would be paying 168 pounds interest!!!!!!

The car insurance is only 530 with mods (it is my second car with only 1 years ncd) but imagine my reaction when I saw I would be paying 168 pounds on top for 9 months worth of credit. Gave them a call cancelled the credit agreement and paid the whole amount in one go on a 12 month interest free credit card!

Just be careful out there, lots of thiefs around
