Oil pressure

The oil pressure will vary a little depending on oil grade, but i have also found the the Supra oil pump seems to vary quite a bit in the pressure output between different cars and pumps, when i first got my Supra i used to see 28psi hot idle, up to 120 could start, but also used to see over 100psi at high RPM( hot)

Then after replacing my pump which was worn, with a genuine Toyota item, i then got 25psi hot idle and only 80psi high RPM (hot)

go figure.

too much pressure it's not good, that can lead to blow the crank seals.

No its not the pressure from the pump that causes the seal failure, its the amount of wear in the pump, allowing leakage to the seal void, what i was trying to illustrate in my post was that my worn pump was still making 120PSI hot, despite this.

I've bought a TT6 BPU and it's got a Blitz oil pressure and oil temp gauge's fitted. Had a bit of a blast on the way home and it looks like the pressure peaked at 10 bar (it reads in pascals though, so thats a conversion). Temp was about 110 Celsius peak. Looking at the rest of this thread, pressure looks a bit high?

Do these figures sound ok? Can't remember what they were under normal driving, but to be fair there wasn't much of that after it had warmed up! I'll make a note of them tomorrow.

does it ever fall below 2, say when you dump the clutch to stop at a set of lights.

umm...

it does fall under 2 yes, but only as my car idles a bit crap under 1000rpm,

the lower the revs the lower the oil pressure.

at 1000rpm mine is at 2 kgcm2,

800rpm it will be something like 1.8 kgcm2 for example
