pedrosixfour
I'm going to take a prospective look at this particular jeep in the morning. Its a UK model Hilux with a manual gearbox and 60,000 miles on the clock. http://pictures.autotrader.ie/imgser-ie/servlet/media?id=11333902&defaultImageUrl=http://www.carzone.ie/es-ie/images/no-image-large.gif Would anyone have any tips on what to look out for with this particular model? I checked on VOSA and all they have is a breather pipe fault on earlier ('06) models. I'm aware of the injector problem on Irish models, for which there was a 'recall' of sorts, more a remedy, by Toyota Ireland. (faulty injector seals - leading to a carbon build-up on the oil pick-up - leading to oil starvation) Any idea if the UK models were prone to the same issue, or indeed had they any more? (I'm not too put off if they were, its a relatively straight forward fix and I might be able to use it as ammunition tomorrow.) Thanks for any input. Damien. pedrosixfour
I'll take that as a no then! Went to see it, it wasn't bad, a few nice extras, including seats retrimmed in black leather and grey stitching with the Hilux logo on the front seats. The local roads were dire, even by Irish standards, so the test drive didn't really tell me much but it seemed to cope with rough surfaces and change of direction reasonably well considering it uses centuries-old technology for the rear suspension. My main reason for not making a better attempt to buy it was the driving position, the driver's seat has very little adjustment on it (compared to say my Dad's Amazon) and I couldn't be sure that I would enjoy sitting in it for prolonged periods of time. I may drive a couple more examples before I pass judgement but I was really disappointed that the Hilux wasn't as sweet as I thought it would be. adnanshah247
The one they had massively modified to work in the North Pole? yep, well it had bigger suspension, bigger wheels and a thicker sump guard. thats about it really!!!
Evil_Nuts
I love fixing these..............honest, apart from the injector faults and the in Invicibles have the performance ECU fault i cant really say anything bad about them.

Cheers buddy, the hunt continues, unless this guy decides to come down a bit to my budget, he wasn't really budging from €19 - 20k best pickup on the market imo. I think that too Ad, which doesn't really say a lot for it's competitors. I'll need to drive others to compare/contrast. Bulletproof! No such thing anymore Tony. Everything, by it's very design, becomes uneconomical to maintain eventually. yep, well it had bigger suspension, bigger wheels and a thicker sump guard. thats about it really!!! And about £40k of transmission, fuelling and safety tweeks. I love fixing these..............honest, apart from the injector faults and the in Invicibles have the performance ECU fault i cant really say anything bad about them. That seems to be the general concensus, they may cost more than their rivals but its worth it. And a Toyota with a problem is still a Toyota. I've fitted a few Parrot kits to these, nice cars with a well put together interior But just not that comfortable for a chap of 6'4":(, but like I said I may drive a couple more examples before I am sure. Thanks for all the opinions lads.
