wallis
I understand the variables of diff areas in the country costing more or less, but I'm in a really good area in Lincolnshire? Lee for example has the same turbo kit as me but flux are charging him £670 and my quote was £1100? Now i don't know where lee lives but it's a big difference, and to say I'm older with a clean license and 12 years no claims and lee is 28 with less no claims than me, what's going on there? I think insurance is nothing more than just legal fraud, it makes me sick.....lol

When you phone up, they quote you as much as they can without taking the piss (well, not too much!) and if you're happy with it, that's what you pay. Havard
I've been shopping for quotes all week and found that whereas all the well known specialist companies used to give quotes over the phone they all now say they will have to call me back, and most of them don't. I tried Lynbrook as suggested on here recently but they said they wouldn't quote for a BPU import. Seems to be getting harder every year. They must have been convinced that it was heavily modified then. My car is declared with a sports exhaust and after market alloys. When I go BPU I was just going to refer to tyhe HP increase and see if they accept it. I have found that it's all about how you sell the idea to the insurance company and the person you are speaking to. H.
Keefred
I am sure they just make it up as they go along, it follows no reason that I can see as I constantly see people half my age paying less insurance for a TT than I do at 49 for an N/A and I have 20 years plus no claims and no points for 10 years. The first year I was with Sky which was such a relief to find someone who knew about cars as when I bought it and swapped over the few months left I had on my old car with the AA when I told them it had different wheels and an an exhaust it was like I'd told them I'd had a flux capacator fitted or something. They couldn't even find the car on thier database, the Automobile Association !

Dnk
Just been in touch with lynbrook classic £340 all in incl. breakdown cover for a n/a with a mileage of 5,000 per annum and livingstones waterman wanted £296 plus breakdown at £59 with a mileage of 7,500 per annum ! I'm 43yr's old but the advisor said, your no claims doesn't come into the equation on a classic ins. which was nice lol I use Livingstones Warman and im very happy with the cover on my supra, i pay just over £300 with all mods declared and with agreed value of £13k, seems you got quoted a good deal too considering the mileage allowance is 50% more than Lynbrooks very similar quote

Josh
Funny how all the good (read as sensible) quotes are for UK spec LOL! What i want to know has anyone got a good quote for import with mods, excluding car crime hot spots that is;) When I was searching for insurance on a J-spec, they wouldn't quote me due to age, mods or the fact it was an import. The only company I found that were ok with age and import wouldn't allow it to be modified at all. Can't remember who that was though!
