Scutch0
Hey guys, Need to replace my front greenstuff pads, but not sure on the part number... Any ideas? It's a 95 j spec n/a.
bignum
I`d move away from the greenstuff pads mate, either porterfield r4 or chris wilson fast road are very good, whats the car used for mainly?
Scutch0
It's just my daily, only reason I wanted greenstuff was because 1. That's what's in there already, and 2. Less brake dust = me happier! Lol
RobUK
Get Chris Wilson pads... Really good pads
Monkpower
I'm getting Porterfield R4 pads fitted as we speak. I'll let you know how they perform.
Scutch0
How much are the Chris Wilson pads?
Homer
Green stuffs are probably the worse possible pads to fit, even EBC themselves don't recommend them for a Supra Chris Wilson fast road pads will completely transform the braking performance of the smaller caliper setup. They're about £90 for a set of fronts.
sams
i agree move away from ebc pads. i got a set of yellowstuff pads (only because they didnt cost me anything) and there no good. i managed to cook them the other day, bellowing smoke they were, i was worried they where going to catch fire
Scutch0
Ok well that's outa my price range atm, january was hard on me so I have about £50-60 to spend, anyone have partnumbers for standard replacement pads?
Homer
I feel for you but £90 is peanuts running cost for a supra. Stock ones will be about £70-80 a set from Toyota. If you're really hard up try Partco for some patern ones, they're rubbish, but still better than worn out or EBC ones.
Scutch0
Quick question, I've always found the brakes lacking feel and I've just had a quick look at the pads and it still seems the outer ones have loads of pad left the brake fluid level is low so I'm assuming the pad nearest the piston is completely worn, is this normal when the caliper seizes? The rear pads were changed 2 months ago hence my suspicions being the fronts.
Scutch0
Also anyone have a photo of a n/a j spec front pad, as I might have a rifle through the parts catalogs at work, I might be able to find some cheapies to get me outa trouble until I an afford the Chris Wilson ones. supra steveo
if i were you i would check all pads then , give the car some time and tlc also get a tub of copper grease to lube them up grease the slider bars to
Scutch0
Yeah I was gonna strip the sliders out and clean them up anyway. Cheers.
Chris Wilson
Sliders will be seized, a full car set of my fast road pads is £130 plus VAT, just fronts, which I don't recommend fitting, are £82 plus VAT. Sort the calipers first or it will just drink fuel, chew its way through another set of pads, and overheat them, as well as the discs. If you are on a really tight budget I will have some excellent, evenly worn used pads about the place. £20 an axle set for J-Spec ones.
