jackso11
Just get one form someone on here or whifbitz, stick it in and see what you have. You want it to restrict to 0.8/0.9, then you can boost up with a boost controller. Someone probably said that already but I can't be bothered to read all the way through. Nic
Have you upgraded the fuel pump?, if not, forget what problems you're having at the moment and get a decent pump in there. Running a boosted car lean leads to bad times. The NA fuel pump is the same as the TT so unless it's faulty it shouldn't be a problem at stock boost levels. Nic
I would advise paying one of the traders on here a visit, to give the car a proper look over. It might cost you a few quid (It won't be 100s unless something is seriously wrong) but IMO it would be well worth getting someone who knows what they are doing to get their hands on it. Agree, get the car running correctly first before messing around with restrictor ring and BPU questions. I'd fit the second cat and as Scott suggests get it to a specialist, it could be just something as simple as a leaking vac hose, faulty actuator, etc. not something we'll be able to diagnose here. I'd keep it off boost until you do or better, get it trailered.
pistonbroke
The only reason I suggest the pump, is because he's clearly gunning for the 1.2 bar, which is BPU territory, and stipulates a bigger pump.

A stock pump can maximise the injectors, which is what happens up there. The main reason for changing the pump is that it will be at its limit and the fact that it might be up to 18 years old. If the pump is running well, the engine won't run lean.
Guest hamiltonsupra
Does the restrictor ring fit between the gasket of the exhaust and manifold ? My car is up on the ramps on Wed and i want to check there is one installed (whifbitz issending one up just in case). Thanks
TTRickeh
They're usually 2-bolt fitment so in that case would be between 1st cat and 2nd cat or 2nd cat and cat-back, or on a flange further back but only a weirdo would do that.
