hodge
Has anyone got a step by step guide to removing the rear quarter windows. When my car is being painted I'm taking a week off work to do all the prep work at the bodyshop, like stripping the car and flattening back the primer etc etc. Thanks John

RobUK
Carefully..... I used a Stanley knife to cut through the bond and then gently prized the window away from the body of the car.... Make sure you remove the nuts that hold the window to the body before you start... Other than that it's time and the gentle touch..... It probably took me 30mins at least per window
hodge
i will get the info for you mate Thanks mate I'd appreciate that. Carefully..... I used a Stanley knife to cut through the bond and then gently prized the window away from the body of the car.... Make sure you remove the nuts that hold the window to the body before you start... Other than that it's time and the gentle touch..... It probably took me 30mins at least per window So I first remove the interior panels and that will expose the screws. After that is it just a case of removing the sealant??

RobUK
That's right hodge.... Once removed run the knife around the interior side and then start from the door pillar and work towards the back of the car..... But take your time.... Do not rush it... It's really easy to shatter the quarters...

Stephen G
a stanley knife might not do it, it didnt on my car, what you realy need is a knife like this so you put the blade out maybe a couple of inches, i was lucky enough to get a lend of one. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/K-Tool-70545-18-Inch-Professional-Windshield-Knife-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem20b3aa5138QQitemZ140453237048QQptZMotorsQ5fAutomotiveQ5fTools

Chris Wilson
The easiest way is to pay a pro using a Fein power tool to cut them out. I have done loads of Skyline ones and have decided if I had bought the right tool initially I'd have saved many hours and two broken windows and some damaged trim. http://www.rejel.com/category/80.aspx A how to using a Fein tool on a Ford Scorpio front screen http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/manual/windows/windscreen.pdf Edited February 2, 2011 by Chris Wilson (see edit history)
