supra_sarah
hi iv recently heard about vinyl wraps for your car, you can change the whole colour of your car, alot cheaper than gettin a full paint respray and if its done properly should help protect original paint work from chips etc im sure it has its downsides though Has anyone had this done? what do people think of it? http://www.colourmycar.net/go/carbon-fibre-car-wrap
Josh
There are loads of threads on it if you use the search bar the top. I know there are good and bad points in doing it. Edit: These are just a few: http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?223570-Vinyl-wrapping&highlight=vinyl+wrap http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?225251-Vinyl-Wrap-thoughts....&highlight=vinyl+wrap http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?225821-vinyl-wrap-price&highlight=vinyl+wrap

SupraShaun
I may be wrong, but I cant see polished vinyl ever looking as good as polished paint.
clapyohandz
I would surely do a 3m clear bra on my front bumper but that's about it.
Guest George89
I have seen vinyle wrapping on a few cars at my work place, if its done properly its okish i wouldnt personal get my whole car wrapped maybe a lip on a spoiler or dashboard, I saw a white range rover which looked good from a distance but if you get close too it, The vinyle was pealing away, it was actually a black range rover, If you decide to get it done make sure you see some of their previous work thats been done 6 months ago, As fresh vinyle won't peel off but 6 months down the line is a diffrent story

Dnk
I would surely do a 3m clear bra on my front bumper but that's about it. I did it and it was crap but think a lot of the problem was down to who did it. It couldn't be polished up the same as the paintwork either. The biggest issue i've seen with wrapping all of a mkiv is you'd have to have joins because the roof blends down the quarter panels and each side of the windscreen and the sheets used aren't big enough to cover such a large area. Josh
If you go with the chrome look, don't park it in front of anything light, unless you want it to be near invisible http://spacethings.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/chrome_car.jpg
Abz
If done properly it looks good, my friend done both his Range Rover & Bentley GT. I actually borrowed the GT and didn't notice until I opened the door & noticed inside the door sill area it was grey! (He had a white wrap). Josh
my veyron pic not good enough josh?? always go one step better. BOO to you with your tt lol Lol, if you put some gold in here, there needs to be chrome too I'd say I'm jealous of your engine bay, but I'm not as it would consume all my time cleaning it. Looks lovely, just too much upkeep! lol
BazzaAlpine
Wrapping is one of the things I'm planning to look at with mine with some extra designs for the sides. Hopefully I'll get a good bonus next year and no trouble with the car for the rest of this one. Anyone seen the quality of work from the place that gives a club discount? Can't remember the name but got the link at home, they do the manga graphics as well.

marc_p
I looked into this a while back, but if you want it to look like paint, don't do it, you will never have that depth/reflection that you will with paint. I would only do it if your wanting the carbon/gold/chrome finish.
