Josh
I read somewhere before that smoking builds up your immune system. Putting sh!t into your body all day every day means your body is trying to fight it, so your immune system will be good. Now you've stopped smoking, it's not used to having to fight "bad things" all the time. I quit because I was ill and haven't really noticed any difference in the amount of colds and stuff I get between the time I was smoking and since I've quit. bobapple
I heard but don't know how true it is that when you smoke you bugger up a protective layer on your throat but the hot smoke kills of some germs so you don't really suffer with colds etc but when you quit your left for a period with no protective layer or hot smoke beating back the germs. This may be complete twaddle as you may just have that nasty flu bug going around as I smoke and I have it .
peter richards
just my theory , think of all that brown stuff coating everything it touches , then to an extent probably stops the germs getting in . now you have quit the body will recover from the nicotene invasion , but will now maybe open to the normality of getting a cold , i know which i prefer , you can recover from a cold not so easy lung cancer
Ian C
Don't use it as an excuse to start smoking again, quitting is always good You probably used to have colds, you just never noticed as it made you feel run-down, removed your sense of smell and taste, and gave you a nasty cough - exactly what smoking feels like every day
