Guest Andy Bird
hi all my Na's Exhaust is screwed so gonna either temporary repair it to get me to pay day or take the plunge on a ebay cat back. they all seem to have one pipe yet when looking underneath I obviously have two pipes going to the back. The car is a 1995 NA import, i presume the cats are in the down pipe and then they join up in some sort of X or H pipe to connect up to the cat back? sorry for a stupid question straight off the bat!! Keefred
I think the first cat is in the downpipe, the second one is further along in the part shown as 17410 on here http://www.internetwork.org.uk/part_num/eng_fuel/images/1702.gif The single pipe type replaces the whole lot from the bottom of the downpipe back and runs in a different route from the Y section, I have a Blitz Nurspec on mine and it doesn't much seem to follow the original route, although it is a lovely bit of kit I personally would have rather have a back box to replace the original one as the Blitz is much lower than the standard one and is always hitting the ground, plus it resonates terribly. I am sure there were 2 standard ones for sale in the for sale section, plus a weld on one to replace just the backbox somewhere.
Nic
The NA stock exhaust has 3 silencers - back box and 2 on the mid pipe - if you fit an exhaust with a single back box it will be a LOT louder. If you are fitting an aftermarket exhaust and don't want it to be too offensive, I would fit one specifically designed for the 2JZGE with a silencer on the mid pipe similar to the Blitx NUR R pictured below. Stock Exhaust - back box and mid pipes 1st Cat (smaller) and 2nd Cat (larger) - 2nd cat connects to mid pipe Blitz NUR R Catback Exhaust for 2JZGE - this replaces the stock back box and mid pipes. http://www.blitz-uk.co.uk/images/products/variantimages/hires/MT3280_1.jpg

neo2810
Get a double decat done while you're at it, you wont look back
Guest Andy Bird
I presume on a 95m import a double decat will only be good till mot time?
Nic
I presume on a 95m import a double decat will only be good till mot time? If all is running as it should, then it will pass the emissions test without any cats. If you fit 2 separate decat pipes then it is fairly easy to refit the second cat come MOT time. paddynewman
I presume on a 95m import a double decat will only be good till mot time? Well my double decat NA is going for an MOT on 5th Feb...That should tell me if it fails or not.. the noise may be an issue..
bobbywarne1983
if you get a double decat put in will i have to make any sensor changes???

neo2810
if you get a double decat put in will i have to make any sensor changes??? You just remove the cat sensor and tie it out of the way I believe. The other sensor in the manifold does the job.
Nic
if you get a double decat put in will i have to make any sensor changes??? No. Both oxygen sensors are mounted in the 2 cast exhaust manifolds. There is a cat heat sensor but as said this can be just cable tied out of the way, it has no effect on the running and performance of the engine. -Welsh-Stealth-
do it dude! like previously said you won't regret it i have one of nic's manifolds bought from another member on here...whifbitz are soon releasing one if they havent already!? also autobahn88 make them.and make sure you buy from the right sight not ab88 as i did.doh!lol!i believe the autobahn88 has a 3" outlet though.not completely sure. if you ask nevins he will be able to tell you and have a whifbitz 2.5" 2nd decat and cat back. cat back is the boxless version, incase your interested? and its quiet enough...burbles nicely but when you put your foot down it sounds lovely! if you don't want to spend that much on a cat back they have a good TRD replica on ebay made by motoria, granted its a 3" straight through though. apperently a 2.5" on a NA is whats needed.im sure Nic will be able to clear that up? but works for mine. but the motoria does seem alot smoother flowing as it has less bends than my 2.5"...but deffinately not complaining still does the job very very well! the o2 or lambda sensors need to be plugged into the manifold.theres the 2 of them. but like Nic said i've just tied the heat sensor out of the way.tucks nicely behind a heat sheild lol! also my exhaust system is fully decated its also a 95 NA and flew the inspection hope that helps a little? when you set off your first car alarm you will have a silly grin on your face not to mention poping flames
bobbywarne1983
right it looks like i will be off to whifbitz to discuss getting two de cats for mine then..
Nic
right it looks like i will be off to whifbitz to discuss getting two de cats for mine then.. Note, removing both cats on an NA will make it VERY loud, especially combined with an aftermarket TT exhaust.
