marc_p
Wow, what a car these are, I don't think I've ever been in something that has so much torque through the whole rev range, I loved it so much, they maybe slightly tacky, brash, loud and dangerously twitchy but goddamn there just the epitome of cool, they are basically the car version of an old wild west outlaw, you can play your rock music loud, have the tires smoking and it just feels 'normal', it's so hard to explain how badass these things make you feel on the road, you feel like your just sticking your finger up and saying 'f**k you' to everyone else on the road even when your driving sensibly. If I had the money for one of these now, I would get one in a heartbeat. Has anyone else been in one, or own one for that matter. Hopefully in about 3 years, something like this will be about half the price: http://pistonheads.com/sales/2368965.htm

Scott
It's one of the very few realistic cars I would replace the Sup with.
Josh
I had a ride in a C5 a few years ago in Florida and loved it I'd have one but they do seem a bit cheap and not very well put together. I'd have one if it were given to me though

Soop Dogg
Don't bet on that price becoming a reality. 'vette prices have hardened in the last couple of years. Since the pound has dropped against the dollar, it's been so expensive to import one from the States that it's barely worth doing. Then there's the Euro. Since the pound also dropped drastically against the Euro, AND the fact that they charge huge purchase taxes in most European countries on cars like this, the UK has become the absolute bargain basement for Europeans to pick up cheap 'vettes - that's why you can barely find a good 2nd hand Z06 for sale in the UK - and those that are for sale can ask top dollar. My C6 isn't a Z06, but I've had it for over 2 1/2 years and I could probably still get back what I paid for it if I were to sell it today. Even C5's are still holding their value well too. Awesome car though! I love my C6. I wouldn't buy the Z06 because I like the targa roof, but I'd have the new Grand Sport. (Z06 body & brakes, but with the LS3, 6.3 litre motor - plenty good enough for me.) And yes - the sound is awesome! Oh - yeah - as for not being well built - I will agree that the interior isn't up to the standard of a 911, but then it's cheaper to buy, cheaper to maintain and the Chev smallblock is bulletproof. marc_p
Bad ass cars, single your supra you may look at it differently?? Been out in singles before fella, I know what they go like, but I have never been in something that pulls so strong from as low as 1.5k. It's one of the very few realistic cars I would replace the Sup with. I agree, if they were the same price as a Supra, I would be VERY tempted, but not sure if I could give up the Supra. I had a ride in a C5 a few years ago in Florida and loved it I'd have one but they do seem a bit cheap and not very well put together. I'd have one if it were given to me though That's the beauty of them though, it's like the designers said 'should we spend some more on the interior?' and then decided 'naa, screw it, give it more power' Looks great in black. my sort of car, last time i looked at Z06's they was close to 50k. The sound is unreal isn't it, even when you start it and it idles(I 'may' have jizzed myself at the sound ) I had noticed that they weren't cheap, even for early model Z06's, but I would be tempted by a C5, you seem to be able to get a really nice C5 for 18k, is there a UK forum for Corvette owners? I still live in hope though that I can get a Z06 for £20k-25k in 3 years.

pistonbroke
I'm looking into getting a C6 for my next car. I've been watching youtube vids on them for the past 6 months. With a few mods, you can make them proper mental.
jagman
Rising fuel prices will drive down the prices of such cars , could be £1.75 a litre by summer according to the RAC , a 1 p a litre drop in April wont help much !! high insurance wont help either - they are great cars and a bonus that the kids cant afford them, so well cared for
Havard
I would love on but I'm not keen on LHD. Prices are what they were a year or so ago and that is surprising..!! H.

RedM
I have a bit of a 'thing' for these. Apart from the cost there is only one thing that would stop me getting one. You can't get one onto my drive without grounding it! That and I wouldn't leave it un-garaged. Which is two things really.
Guigsy
I rented a hertz c6 for a trip from Orlando to key west. Amazing car. As easy and comfortable to drive distances as the supra and the neck snapping acceleration from a standstill was so much more than my bpu. Made the supe feel slow although I don't think there will be too much in it in terms of numbers. I'd have one in a heartbeat if I could afford one. It felt well built enough tbh I was quite surprised. Compared to the hertz shelby mustang I rented later it was far superior. That was verry cheep feeling. Put me off ever having one. My mother in laws ford ranger and father in laws f150 were better made and almost 10 years older

Bobbeh
They're fantastic cars, got a load of looks when we went with my mate who had a Red one to Le mans a couple of years ago. The noise is amazing and they go like stink too, I tried a 100+ run against it in France and got my ass handed to me quite convincingly!! Most owners use these as a 8-10 month-a -year weekend car anyway - if they can afford to spend cround £25k+ for a weekend toy, and with the mileages that many of them do, the fuel isn't that much of a problem. Also, despite what the reviews say, the C6 is cheap to run. Since October 2009, I've averaged just a shade under 25mpg. Obviously, over that amount of time, it's had a good spread of uses - from cruising down motorway to climbing Alps & Dolomites, to driving around the country roads in Norfolk where I live. Best tank (and this was from full to empty) was 29.8mpg - worst was about 18. I normally get about 24 which is a sight better than I ever got in my TT. There is no major service until 100,000 miles, the minor services normally cost me around £110 at a specialist (including the oil and Filters) and if I should ever need parts, (which in close to 3 years of ownership I haven't - other than filters and a pair of front pads and a set of wipers) I know they'll be much cheaper than most of the parts I ever bought for the Supra. Tyres are the only expensive thing as I won't change away from the runflats. The last set I put on were about £900, but as they last me about 3 years, then I don't think that's too bad. They're not a large volume car (UK sales wise), so you're not really competing with loads of other sellers, and because they're LHD, you can sell them to Europe (they'll pay good money for a well looked after one) which means you're not just restricted to selling to a relatively small uk market like you would be with a RHD Porsche/Merc etc. Oh yeah - where's this 1p/litre drop coming from in April? I just heard that the 1p/litre rise might not happen. Not quite the same...
GazzaGSi
I rented a hertz c6 for a trip from Orlando to key west. Same here when I was in Miami. (yellow with black stripe convertable) Was absolutely amazing and still I car I want to own Made sure I enjoyed every moment of the 24 hours I rented it out just in case if i never get in 1 again Not quite a Z06 but still just as enjoyable
