p3te Posted January 29, 2011 Share Posted January 29, 2011 1st winter my new wheels have been on the car http://img545.imageshack.us/img545/2673/p1000575f.th.jpghttp://img821.imageshack.us/img821/2536/p1000576o.th.jpghttp://img541.imageshack.us/img541/5639/p1000577c.th.jpghttp://img211.imageshack.us/img211/9738/p1000578l.th.jpg Its slightly rough to touch over the areas so looks like the salts got under the lacquer despite multiple applications of poor boys wheel sealant and rim wax and only having the car out of the garage about 4 times since mid december they are 19" volk gtc split rims and weren’t cheap! Could these be re polished and lacquered? I’ve heard once you refurb them they are never the same again and keep need refurbing, is this true? crispy Posted January 29, 2011 Share Posted January 29, 2011 hey mate yea shame bout the wheels i have some jade r 19's that i run round on in the winter and i have some vortex r's for the summer as the rears have a 4" chrome lip that the salt would love to get hold of lol ! not a cheap option but could save money long term. just a quick other question. im loving you bonnet ! is it a seibon bonnet ? if not could you tell me wat it is and where you got it ? cheers mate crispy. Jamesy Posted January 29, 2011 Share Posted January 29, 2011 ahh dude i got exactly the same fcuking thing happen to my new SSR rear wheels - you cant feel them pitted but the snow has left similar marks - GUTTED. that poorboys stuff must be sh!t as mine only stood out for a week or so and that happened to them i am going to have to get the lip polished again now.... Would the chrome be tougher/last longer than the polished lip? I’ve hardly been out at all with the bad weather; just a few times in between snow and rain it’s only happened to 1 wheel as well, the other ones are ok.
