Proper repaint

Doing a MR2 for michael who runs the kent car club, the man is a true enthusiast and loves his car, so its a pleasure to work on it.

the car is V6 supercharged, so i would imagine its going to go like stink.

anyway everything is stripped- carpets, dash, glass and even the engine is out... proper full repaint.

going to paint the engine bay a metallic black as it will make the chrome engine leap out more in your face.

the car is going the same colour which is a ferrari silver. i thought i would do a thread on it.

he is my fellow show and shine rival, so paintwork needs to be spot on

If he's your rival, paint one panel a slightly different shade :D

I'd love to get into the car spraying business. My Dad used to work for Sharpe spray guns and it's always interested me.

  • 4 weeks later...

This months Hot Rod magazine (one of the very few US magazines I buy) has a suoerb article on paintwork. A Firebird or Camaro is given a pukka top end paint job by one of the show winning paint shops in the US. The only thing they fail to mention is the price, but to see the lengths they go to get a show finish is amazing. There were hundreds of man hours in it and LOTS of paints. Luckily I never polish road cars, and rarely wash them, so I am not tempted to go for a fancy finish :)
