Abz
Morning All, It is 6am and I have been up for nearly an hour, Simba (The Cat) woke us up by constantly meowing at the bedroom door so we let him in. I thought he just wanted some attention & left him to roam the room. It's when he went quiet & stopped roaming the wife & I started calling him. Turn the light on and the little bugger is in the corner doing a pee! I grabbed him & he stop peeing, he dribbled a little but took him downstairs & he then ran out into the garden. He normally pees doing the day & does it outside in the garden or back of the fields. Now his only pee'd a little on the brand new expensive carpet but it reeks! The wife is livid!!! We tried picking up as much urine using tissues, then rubbed with a damp cloth and also once as dry as we could we used a some liquid & a sponge to rub into the carpet. Now have shake & vac on the carpet & I have used one of them febreze sprays. Now, what do you recommended to get rid of the odour? The carpet is a cream white, doesn't seemed to have stained but I guess we will find out tomorrow. Really need some help peeps, the smell is quite bad! This piss I need to take, it is reeking the room out! Mate try some white vinigar you may need to just lift the carpet and do backing also. if its in underlay cut that out and replace that bit Thanks for the quick response dude! He picked the worst bit to pee as that side has a massive wardrobe! Do I need to put the white vinigar on the back of the carpet as well you say? Will this remove the odour smell or is this for the stains? I woke up this morning, brushed my teeth and upon walking halfway up the stairs I could smell the rank pee! Euurrgghhhh!!! Cheeky Simba comes in this morning and up to the bedroom to apologise! (Or go for round 2!) Grrrrr Any other suggusts also welcome too! pedrosixfour
Any other suggusts also welcome too! Personally, I'd shoot the cat and move the wardrobe. But I have been told my reasoning is a little out of kilter so apply your own logic to the above suggestion before straining your back. AndrewOW
What liquid did you use? For the removal of the smells/stains, I've used a mix of clothing washing liquid, warm water and a cloth to give the area a good going over, and this seems to help with everything, but getting the underlay clean is the most important thing. Unfortunately, it'll be a regular place to pee now, as his scent is there, and even steam cleaning won't guarantee it's complete removal IMO. Think I might hire one over the weekend. What liquid did you use? Just as you said Andrew I used cloth with washing liquid & a sponge & tissues to soak up the wee (though it wasn't a lot to be honest, well didn't look like a lot). This is the first time ever he has wee'd in the house or poo'd for that matter, his normally really good at alerting us if he needs to go. Be curiosity and kill the cat..!! With Fire? Scott
If the red wine/white wine scenario is anything to go by then I would recommend dog pee. Give evinx a shout, I'm sure he will happily supply a dog that pees

Guigsy
There are a few different sprays you can get that are supposed to be good at removing the smell. Also they discourage them from doing it again somehow. Our male cat has a habit of peeing on the downstairs loo rug. So we just keep the door firmly closed. Then he started peeing on the doormat so we pulled that up lol. Now he has given up

Baking soda is the best natural remedy for getting rid of the hideous ammonia smell. I read somewhere that is the best, told the wife and she brought home baking powder You peeps think it is worth me getting this in over the weekend? http://www.hss.com/g/59402/Steam-Vacuum-Cleaner.html
Graham S
You peeps think it is worth me getting this in over the weekend? http://www.hss.com/g/59402/Steam-Vacuum-Cleaner.html Dude, if you need to spend out like that hiring one of those, ask around your mates and see if they want theirs doing as well and see if you can split the cost between you all.. I do think the idea of buring the cat with fire is a good one but i'd wait till the flame dies down first then put the cat on, you'll end up with serious crisping on the outside and raw cat on the inside. Could cause issues with food poisoning dude!

wile e coyote
Mate i work for servicemaster clean give your local one a call they should be able to remove with our products for same price as hireing one. we cant sell any of our products which are for profesional use only. It needs extracting out and def cut out the bit of underlay and do back of carpet also. Cant garantee stain removal but should remove smell. Tell them freind of Darren and Amanda Smee owns franchise in Plymouth and hoped they would give you a discount.
Chris Wilson
As Chrlotte says, baking soda works, or you could risk very dilute bleach. Do a test on a bit of carpet offcut if you have any. That was one tip that a mate of mine who was a carpet fitter for one of the high end shops gave me. Always keep some offcuts to see what gets any stains off safely
wile e coyote
Bleach ok only of its a plypropalene / nylon mix and use a thick one as it can attack the backing, if its wool then its a NO NO
