Terminal Velocity the charity track-day comprising of 1/4 mile drag racing and 1.5 mile speed runs, will be held this year on the 20th August 2005 at RAF Woodbridge, Suffolk. The event is restricted to 75 Supercars only and is held solely in order to raise money for charity. The success of last year's event was largely due to the eclectic nature of the attendees, drawn from a select band of Supercar Owner's clubs and a network of Underground Roadracers all looking for a legal outlet for their adrenalin fuelled ambitions.

The audience of petrol heads and party animals came for the weather, the cars and the sights and smells of tortured metal and rubber. Most of the attendees had gathered the night before for some idle boasting and wild speculation about their performances and this continued long into the night. The next day this was evidenced by some late arrivals and very bleary eyes.

Everyone who attended the event managed more drag runs and top speed runs than they could possibly have hoped for, and by early afternoon the leaders were marking their professionalism and commitment clear, by working harder and harder to scrape extra hundredths of a second and tenths of a mile per hour. The competition was enthralling and much, much tougher than anyone (including the organizers) had expected. A track record for a car's top speed was achieved by the RUF tuned Porsche. And prizes were duly awarded to the winners!

This year the bar has been raised again, with several very heavily tuned 3000GT/GTOs, Supras and RX7s aiming to push the beautiful German machines harder and harder, and with the attendance of one of Maranello's finest performers in the shape of an F40, then we can expect records for the event to be smashed!! And of course several of the big BHP Skylines will no doubt have a definitive say in proceedings.

It seems odd that with all this fun being had and people enjoying the spectacle to such a degree that we're actually raising money for a good cause! But last year we raised over 600 Pounds for Great Ormond Street Hospital and this year we're hoping to raise a lot more! Our cause is currently expected to be the victim's of Asia's tragic Tsunami, but we're still trying to work out how best to donate the funds raised so that they have the maximum effect, if you have any ideas on this front please contact the organizers.

TV2005 will be different in many ways to other years, but the first and foremost difference is that for the first time we will have Corporate Sponsorship! The first of these is Pexhurst, who's website at http://www.pexhurst.co.uk explains their business better than I could, but to them and their Chairman Albert Vella we are extremely grateful!!

All that remains for me is to ask you to download your application form, rev up your engine and spin your wheels!
