Little help getting rid of my MG ZR

Recommended Posts

I have a MG ZR which I have been trying to sell for about 7 months now and nobody is interested in it :( Only silly offer that are way less than the car is worth. Now the only solution I can see is to break it for parts until I get the money I want from it then scrap the rest. But the only problem I have is I don't have anywhere to break it unfortunately :( and I can't really afford to rent a garage of which the nearest one is miles away. I was wondering if some kind soul nearby has a spare bit of land that I can use to break it on. I know its a long shot and very cheeky but I could pay you in amber nectar for your troubles.

Have you put your car up on the forum? Where have you advertised it man?

Used the following?

* eBay

* Pistonheads

* Autotrader

* Gumtree

* Supra Forum

* MG Forum

* WeBuyAnyCar.com

Thing is though when you break it you end up sending a lot of time breaking & then selling loads of parts to different people which takes a lot of time and effort. In the end you might end up worse off unless a certain part is worth a lot of money and in demand? Sometimes it might be better to take a lower offer & get rid of it then spend hours trying to shift the parts you broke. :)

ebay - no as they take too much money

pistonheads - yep been on there for months

autotrader - had it on there for months then stopped as it was costing a fortune

gumtree - yep on there

supra forum - yep in other stuff for sale

mg forum - yep for months

webuyanycar - offered me less than half of what the car was worth frankly disgusting

Just for a laugh I put in the supe on WBAC and they offered me 1200 pounds ...... just a snip of their great prices....

THere's a suprise.

It should be change to:

'WeOfferF"ckAllforAnyCar'

And they should change the advert from

'Most likely just £50, but up to £100k if you have a Veyron worth over £1m - that's about it though'

Ebay classified ad costs £14.99 and lasts for 28 days. If its not selling after 7 months then the price is wrong. We sold a 53 plate a while back with only 32k on it and just had head done, missus got 2200 for it, I valued it at 1200 so was amazed but we only had 1 enquiry at that price, luckily they took it.

want 2k for it but would take less if someone offered !! Been getting offers round 1200 which I would rather let it rot on the drive than let it go for that much as its criminal. Its 03 done 38k had head done, 4 brand new tyres, FSH and is in top condition.

I dont know if EBay does it every weekend or just some weekends, but they make it free to list automobiles :) Might be worth knocking it on ebay without a reserve (to avoid the cost) and stating that you have the right to remove the car. Your not allowed to remove it once your passed the 24hr left mark though. Then as above, state cash on collection. This way it will cost you nothing :)

Maybe you should consider the cost of advertising it each time when you get an offer? I've sold plenty of cars over the years and have to admit that sometimes you have to take a hit.

Or you could just keep forking out for advertising - eventually you'll have paid for the car yourself! :)

After 7 months I'd just let it go for whatever I could get!

It's going to be a K series in there and TBH the head gasket issues put a lot of people of buying Rover/MG.

It was possible to fix it with more reliability by fitting a Freelander HG and using steel locating dowels instead of the plastic ones but the reputation was that the engines weren't to be trusted.
