hodge
Hi guys When I did my Bosch 044 pump setup I fitted a -8AN check valve directly into the top of the pump. Would it make any difference if this valve was mounted outside the tank. I'll keep it as close to the hanger as pos of course. What's your opinions on this. hodge
Anyone????
hodge
I've asked this question on Supraforums also and from what I understand the guys over the pond only think there necessary when running multiple pumps. It's not required for 1 Bosch 044 or the like.
Ryan.G
Guys in the states are correct, its only worth having the check valves on the pump if running more than one 044. That way if one pump dies you still keep the pressure from the other pump. They are a fair sized restriction tho. If it was on my car i wouldn't run the check valves and just feed the fuel pressure into the Syvecs. That way if the pressure drops below a certain threshold based on RPM it will put the car in Limp mode and flag a warning. Also im not the biggest fan of keeping too much pressure in the rail these days when the engine is off as alot of aftermarket injectors leak slighty as the pinicle seats wear. Ryan Ryan can you take a fuel pressure feed from my Defi fuel pressure gauge to run to the Syvecs. If so I'll attach the according wires and run them down to the footwell. Chris Wilson
Bear in mind keeping rail pressure up will help stop poor hot starting due to fuel vaporisation. The Bosch 044 output graphs are based on a stock check valve being present, so if the figures match the engine's needs the valve won't do any harm, unless the injectors are *uggered. hodge
So would you recommend having 1 present chris, and also do you see any issues having it outside the tank.
Wez
Myself and others I know with 044 pumps have removed the check valve, I also know the scooby boys remove them when fitting in tank.
hodge
Have you noticed any starting/pressure issues Wez. It's going to make the in-tank setup much easier if I don't have a check valve.

Certainly on mine it primes before I start, if you flick the ignition to on you can hear the pump prime, when it stops I turn it over and it starts like normal, same with a Walbro and stock pump
hodge
Ok bud. Cheers for the advice, much appreciated.
Chris Wilson
So would you recommend having 1 present chris, and also do you see any issues having it outside the tank. Only possible hot start issues if the fuel rail vapourises, but it seems people have no real issues without one. I have always run the stock 044 valve when uisng those pumps. I can see no reason not to have it external to the tank.

Ryan.G
I run my 044 out the tank on the track car, no issues at all
Chris Wilson
So do I but I NEED the check valves as it only runs one pump. The valves stops the fuel back feeding through whichever is the redundant pump. I thought the fuelling needs would demand dual pumps but it doesn't, so I just left the other as a back up
