I wonder what else he said to get the bullet.

Bit of a shock to say the least

On Sky News they showed a clip of him that was recorded a while back asking a female to help him "tuck this in" as he was adjusting his shirt.

Straw and camels back?

Half of us would get locked up or sacked if they went around recording every word we said, everything is too PC these days, it was banter between two good friends. Men and women do it, it's part of life, no one is perfect. Sky should look at how the newspaper managed to get the recordings in the first place. Andy Gray was good at what he did, so silly over something stupid.

How many men have been on a plane and when the pilot comes on the loudspeaker and it's a woman and we have thought or said " h i hope she can drive" or "let me off now" just as a joke.

The media and hype has been blown all out of proportion. The young lady in question accepted the apology from Keys and most likely put it down to testosterone induced idiocy. It was a stupid stereotypical rant from a couple of "blokes". It is possible that Andy hasn't apologised for his actions hence the sacking.

The guys are in a professional job and should remain professional during the 9-5, a bit of a scaulding would have done IMO :D

I think the problem is they are in a very responsible position, which is why it is more significant when the person in question is watched by millions.

So, on that basis would you advocate harsher sentences for high profile people than for us mere mortals who commit the same crime?

Common sense would say no. There isn't a lot of that going around nowadays though, it is just the way of the world.

That's another broad statement. Andy Gray holds a position of responsibility in the football world, so he's actions will echo much further than those of the mere fan perhaps. If Andy Gray was done for drink driving, I wouldn't expect him to recieve a harsher sentence than me or you, but in the context of sexism in football, Andy Gray has a lot on his shoulders.

I actually believe it runs deeper than just this matter though - perhaps a window of opportunity to remove him anyway?

Care to explain to me (and I am guessing lots of others) why you think someone like Andy Gray should get a harsher sentence - no matter what the crime committed?

IMHO, we all should be judged (and therefore sentenced) on an equal basis otherwise the law definitely becomes a mockery.

Care to explain to me where you have got from what I've written that I believe Andy Gray should get a harsher sentence no matter what the crime committed is? You'll find that I said, in response to your sweeping 'words into my mouth' statement, that is not what I think. I'll reiterate that I believe that Andy Gray holds more responsibility when it comes to sexism in football, which is why he perhaps got the sack in this instance. Then I went on to state that I actually think this matter runs deeper than just this sexism issue.

I've not once said he 'should' have got the sack, nor have I said he should get a harsher sentence for anything. I was merely trying to provide an explanation of why he perhaps did get the sack and that does have a lot to do with his responsibilities at his level.

Ah, insider information. Have you spoken to him before?

I have. I think he might actually live in the village I grew up in, but don't know that for sure.

I know nothing about football, so only speak to him about general crap - he's just one of those people that annoy you because they keep on breathing. I should add that I am usually a very tolerant person.

Alex McLeish also drinks in there on a regular basis. He's a fantastic guy...he calls me "the devil reincarnated", because I apparently look like David Platt from Coronation St..!

Fair enough, I guess a lack of interest in football (like me) actually helps to gauage a fairer opinion of what he is like as a person.
