Whilst driving around town yesterday evening, I spotted a Vauxhall Zafira without any lights on at all, and the (female) driver on her mobile phone. I really just don't understand how people can get away with all this, as in an accident she's have the book thrown at her, but probably not.

I really wish phoning/texting whilst driving would have the same social stigma as drink-driving. There's no need for it especially with hands-free kits.

Since she didn't think to switch any lights on, it sounds like the driver you saw didn't have her brain engaged sufficiently to drive. These people ought to try riding a motorbike: without at least a bit of concentration/awareness they'd probably end up as an organ donor before the day's out.

I know, and I cycle to work these days, and spotting so many cars with lights off or one out is definitely on the increase IMO.

With no lights on at all the dashboard wouldn't have been lit up either, meaning she can't have glanced at her speedo at all!

Crazy, isn't it? Seat belt on, start the car, drive off. Now, what am I forgetting? Err... oh I need to phone someone right now!
