jonathanc
I current have a Technics RP-F350 headphone but its ageing a bit now and I want to replace it. I am looking for something rather cheap as it would only be for occasional usage. I would be mainly plugging it into my Z5500 headphone out port. The main requirements are : Sound isolation - would be ideal if it can cancel ambient sounds or at least have good insulation. I use the headphone to drown all the other noises in the house out to relieve stress on really bad days... Decent bass "Snagless" cables. I hate it when the cables go all crossed so prefer something with this feature Budget circa 50-100 quid depending on how good the headphone is but would rather spend around £50... Any ideas? tooquicktostop
I know they are way out of budget but the BOSE headphones I used on a flight with American Airlines a few weeks ago where quite simply amazing, noise cancelling was 100% and the sound quality was fantastic

I don't feel comfortable wearing those in ear headphones over long time for some reason...

I use some Sennheizer CX300 II - Which I use daily on my commute to work. Although these are in ear headphones and don't have the feature you mentioned they are pretty good on canceling out noise around you. Nowhere near as good as the BOSE, which you have the option to turn on & off the noise feature, though for £25 they are very good & well within your budget. Once you have the music a little up, you are then in a world of your own.
jonathanc
well... tbh main reason for noise cancelling is sometimes I just want to chill out after a hard day but the kids and wife makes loads of noise so would prefer something that could drown them out dont have to be massive noise cancelling just something that lets me enjoy the music. The current headphone I have is crap lol I have to turn the volume all way up to even hear anything. This is my current headphone .. http://www.whathifi.com/Review/Technics-RP-F350/ edit: @ Abz : I dont know why but I must have weird ears lol. Used to have a Seinnheiser with those different ear bud piece but I just dont feel comfy wearing them for a long time. I was recommended SKull Candy by a mate at work but look like some kinna teenage fetish gear than a proper headphone.

jonathanc
They were a full size headphone hmm the BOSE I had a look at are in ears but with that battery powered noise cancelling thingy. Don't think I can afford a 200+ quid headphone tho
jonathanc
sennheiser hd25 Read good reviews about this one... how's the sound quality? Does the wires have one of those "snagless" feature?
tooquicktostop
These were the ones, dont think you would need to buy headphones again for some time ! http://www.bose.co.uk/GB/en/home-and-personal-audio/headphones-and-headsets/acoustic-noise-cancelling-headphones/
pistonbroke
PLease don't flame me for suggesting these, but these Fatal1ty headphones I bought for my PC are something else. http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/3361136/Creative-Fatal1ty-Pro-Series-Gaming-Headset/Product.html I had my doubts when they were first suggested to me, being a bit of an audiophile, I never thought I'd get anything decent for £35, but then I tried a set.....I've never heard headphones like them, the bass reproduction is outstanding, but they still manage to maintain detail despite high running volume. I promise you, you will not be dissapointed with them.
jonathanc
Thanks for all the suggestions mates Bought current headphones 2-3 years ago I think so not really in the loop. I'll be only using this at home btw...plugged into PC. Something wrong with my current headphones lol ... all volumes up max but doesn't sound any louder on headphones... Wez
Another vote for the HD25 but they are really DJ headphones. I have a set of Sennheiser PC151 headphones for sale on eBay at the moment which have hardly been used Item number: 110637527226
Jord
Sennheisers are always a great bet for sound quality and good bass. The higher end ones can get really expensive though.
