Guest LoFET
So have some problems with my -94 MKIV N/a. Its running unsmooth and rich. Engine light is on trouble code 31. Yes only 31, it loops and shows this as its only code. Changed the plugs to new ones and the old ones weretotaly black...... Its smoking black out of the exhaust to. The problem showed up after standing still for a month with the battery -cable off. code 31 says afm in the manual but j.spec supras doesnt have one ? So my thougts are lamda or the cold start is always in. Any ideas ?
Shane
How many miles have you done since re-connecting the battery? The ECU needs to re-learn and once reset I guess a safe basemap is loaded until it has and that I would think would be on the rich side. If you have a DMM it would be worth seeing how the O2 sensors are behaving too, these are not pre heated so will only start to provide a serious output when nice and hot. Ian C
I thought that some J-Spec NA's have a MAF? Got a photo of your engine bay, near the air intake?
