If someone can do that and repair it, PM me I put a small screwdriver in the back of mine to stop the fan turning, wrapped it in cling film and a towel and it killed itself. RCK10
What you planning on using the jtag for mate? Keep in mind as soon as you go online you'll get banned, and Kv's are getting banned almost instantly since the new dash. I think there are a few people who've figured it out now mind you... RCK10
You won't be able to play online like a normal console bud. All the folk that do the modding have two separate consoles. One retail, and one jtag. I've not really been paying attention to it all lately, but before the dash you had to get a Kv to get online which people charge about 40/50 quid a Kv. If its just offline stuff your planning on doing they can be good fun. Modded Nazi Zombies are great, but the coding and stuff can be quite hard to understand if you've never done it before. AFAIK, jtags can't get online at the moment because Microsoft patched the KVs and they get banned instantly. Before the new dash they lasted about 4hrs (enough time to host Modded lobbies and make your money back) ...
Bossco
I can fix your red ring problems lads, and most likely other 360 related problems. I'm not into tagging or flashing drives though. As posted above they are picked up by microsoft as soon as they are connected to xbox live so unless it's on a 2nd conlsole which wont be used online then I never see the point. I wouldnt recomend some of the youtube methods for repairing but there are some good ones on there. There are more effective ways to overheat the machine than wrapping a towel around it. (the overheating is used to warm the solder arround the chips to reform any broken connection) I've got a good PDF guide on how to repair 3 rings. If you want to try it yourself I'll help you through it, or if your not that way inclined drop me a PM and we'll come to an arrangement

RCK10
I got an RROD xbox from work the other day. Just tried the "towel trick" out of boredom and it worked lol. Don't see it lasting long mind you. Bossco, you want a (temp fixed) RROD 360 for spares or repair mate?

Richie1985
If anyone has any rrod consoles sitting around I'd happily take them off your hands. I've just started to fiddle with them and have managed to get one fully working again and then flashed. Has been working fine on live too lol
SupraDan24
Youtube the "towel" trick in the mean time Evil, i've heard it works as a short term fix. Never tried it though. Only reason i see for flashing a console is to play games offline for free IMO, games like Borderlands etc with no/not much online content. Sooner or later, you WILL get banned. Happend to me and i ran all my games through the latest ABGX, patched and stealthed and i still got banned. Just so you know as well, playing the copied games offline will NOT prevent you from getting banned, a fingerprint of each game is saved as you play it, so next time you go online, if there's a discrepency you will be flagged for banning in the next banning wave. JTag's get banned pretty much immediately i believe.

Havard
My Xbox plays up sometimes. The last time it took 4 hours of open tray faults before it worked again and that was 2 months ago. I did get the urge to take it out on the drive an smash the thing to pieces as I was that wound up. COD deprivation is a terrible thing....!! I will contact Bossco next time it plays up as opposed to breaking into little pieces. H.
Bossco
I got an RROD xbox from work the other day. Just tried the "towel trick" out of boredom and it worked lol. Don't see it lasting long mind you. Bossco, you want a (temp fixed) RROD 360 for spares or repair mate? Thanks for the offer mate but I dont need any spares atm. I'd only be putting it up on ebay anyway. A legit case of 3 red lights can be fixed perminatley with x clamp repair if it's done properly. More often than not it's another error which is causing the RROD. The towel trick does work in some cases but as above will only be for short term. Check youtube for the heat gun fix. This is a more long term methed as it heats the solder around the chips to a much higher temperature than blocking air flow with a towel. Take care though if your going to try this yourself as the board will get proper hot, far to hot to touch infact. If it's allowed to cool quickly and for long enough then the solder will re-bridge any broken connection and should work fine. If you dont have a heat gun I find 6 minitues at 200 degrees (gas mark 6) in the oven works just as good. 4 to 5 minuts for fan assissted ovens . I dont recommend using an oven above a heat gun as the board contains plastic parts around the USB connecters etc which will melt if you leave in cooking for to long lol. I'd recommend to everyone that games should be installed on HDD and played from there. This way the console stays nice and cool even for long sessions. If you haven't opened the Xbox up yet then DONT !! Go on to Xbox.com and get onto the repairs page, enter in the number on the back of the box to register it. Then, report it as RROD on the same page and they should come get it and send you a refurb. The standard warrenty was extended to around 5 years i think it was after the whole RROD fiasco so they replace them free of charge. I did it about a year ago. You just need to box it up. I would Link you but i'm offshore and cant get on Xbox.com. If you google it though they're should be plenty of how too's.
