Recommend me a Spacious Diesel, that looks good and is under £3k!

Mondeo TDCi estate? Will be high mileage for that price though.

I'll thread carefully here though... if it's a MK3 TDCi I would go for the 2.0 as parts are cheaper. Mileage doesn't really matter but if its anything over 80k check if it's been regularly serviced and ask about the Dual Mass Flywheel.

It cost a fortune to replace (circa 600 quid for a clutch + DMF kit new) and seems to be a common problem in these cars. Early signs of it doing is a slight "clattering" engine sound on idle. Try to listen carefully on tickover as well, any abnormal sound could mean the DMF. The TDCi engine should sound silky smooth on the go.

Overall it's a great car though. Very spacious and comfortable plus premium feel. Would recommend the Titanium (or Titanium X) models.

'05 on Fiat Croma 1.9 Multijet Diesel. Bit of an oddball but excellent VFM - huge interior space, MPV crossed with hatch looks, good standard kit levels. For info, they're based on the Vectra C / Signum platform so share many parts and the diesel engines are the ones Fiat supplied to GM for use in their range, comes in the same 120bhp 8v or 150bhp 16v guises.

I bought a '55 plate as the baby buggy for the Mrs a year ago, picked it up for £3,100 with 56k miles and came with leather. All in all, hard to beat for the job IMO :)
