Applications

Prepares metal parts for new gaskets/sealants. Eliminates scraping and sanding, preventing damage to components. Removes cured gasket sealants and traditional gaskets from most types of surfaces in 10 to 15 minutes.[/quote

Yeah I read that but it doesn't mention that it's harmless to the coolant or the coolant system.

I can't see me being able to plug up all the holes.. there are LOADS of them. Would be a nightmare of a job, there must be another way of doing this lol.

Nice progress chap. Any chance of pics of the manifold/downpipe/midpipe? Not seen detailed shots of the boostlogic one before. What you doing re wastegate? out in the open or plumbed back in? (I can't imagine you're doing the latter)

Yeah I'll get some pics sorted for you mate.

I've got the option of open or plumbed into the mid pipe. JP had them adapted to give the option :D

In an earlier post, I think you ask if some sealer is used for the head gasket? The answer is no, I usually put a thin smear of grease on both sides of the gasket before fitting, someone once told me it helps it smooth down and seal when you torque it, buy you dont have to, its personal preference :) I'd get the head skimmed if I were you whilst its off as well! Also, has your car been submerged in a lake at some point lol? I drove my last soop through two winters and it never had as much surface corrosion on components such as your starter, engine mounts, etc.. :D

It's a fresh head mate, skimmed, dipped, cleaned, new valve stems, new springs & retainers etc. It's dried coolant bud, not corrosion. Already spoke about that with Geo ;)

Found a spare hour so managed to make some headway (badum tish).

Those ARP studs are a bit of a pain. Instructions are very general. For example, you can't fit the studs and then fit the washers, you need to have the washers in place first lol. Oh well, they are in now. Not tightened up the head yet as I need to get a decent socket for it (the ones I have are all hex).

I just placed the cam covers on top to keep things extra clean now.

excellent work Scott

Cheers mate.

Looking good, you are a fan of black it seems? :D

I'm lazy and can't be bothered with bling. I had my engine bay black and red for a couple of years and had next to no hassle keeping it clean :D

I've really struggled for time this week so I decided to burn the candle at both ends and spend a couple of hours after work (backshift) last night to get some things started.

Head is now torqued down properly, shims are all in place and free, cams are now torqued down. I need to get a hold of a set of feelers so that I can check the shim clearance and then I need some "packing seal" to finish off the front cam bearing.

I've also started fitting the different bits and bobs. Water pump, alternator, aircon pump, brake master cylinder and power steering reservoir are all on.
