Guest Eduardo
Help [sHOCK][/sHOCK] I have a Supra 1993 nonTurbo that has been diagnosed with an head gasket failure. So far the engine is running fine, just drinking coolant. I'm in Margate, Kent. Any ideas? thanks
Dnk
Take it to a decent garage and get the fault verified, if it is the head gasket you need to have the head checked that its not warped in case its overheated. If the heads not warped fit new gasket job done. If the heads warped by any decent amount you'll need a new one, it could be cheaper to just fit a complete engine as their apparently quite cheap. RobSheffield
I would suggest the best idea is to get it repaired. HTH
Guest Eduardo
The head gasket leak was verified by Toyota in Canterbury through a sniffer test. where can I get a new engine? I'm in Kent. What is quite cheap? Is there anyone out there (in the forum) that has enough mechanics knowledge to perform the repair (the cambelt is also due in 5000miles) and wants to buy the car? Anybody with experience in running the car drinking coolant? thanks
Swampy442
A head gasket is very rare on a JZ engine but I suppose if Toyota diagnosed it its not some back street clown. Why dont you just get it fixed? Any competent garage can do it. Sure theres no leaks anywhere?

He's a good bloke and will look after you mate. It's got 85 on the clock and some of that will be km so good low milage it's been great for me but it's now time for me to go TT
Supra Gaz
You can pick up a 2jz ge for a couple of hundred quid. It would probably work out cheaper and better just to get the headgasket done though.

Chris Wilson
If the head has warped it's almost certainly scrap. has it been overheated AT ALL??? If so find another engine as the cam bearings will be no longer in line, ut more like a banana. That is not economically repairable. You can skim the head to block face but the bearings will remain out of line.
