GazzaGSi
I am after a sub £600 50" plasma TV. So far I have narrowed it down to these 2: LG 50PK350 for £549.00. * Full HD 1080p * 50 inch (127 cm) 16/9 * 600Hz * Freeview Panasonic TX-P50C2B for £489.00 * "HD ready" * 50 inch (127 cm) 16/9 * 100Hz * Freeview Plus I'd get afew quid back from Quidco on either purchase. I've never had LG, always Panasonic so even though it has less Hz and only 720p I am swaying that way. But, the LG is full HD, 600Hz etc so wondering if the extra £60 would be justified. Thing is though, I dont know if I will use 1080p. I havent got SkyHD and Blu rays/99% of my gaming is played through a projector on the wall. I may get a Freesat box so there will be ITV & BBC HD to watch, nothing to get excited about though. I do like the razor frame on the LG, looks smart and modern. Does anyone know what the image retention/burning is like on these and if I were to use either for gaming, what the input lag is in ms? Thanks Gaz Review at avforums of LG: http://www.avforums.com/review/LG-PK350-50PK350-Review.html Also, if anyone else has any suggestions let me know. Cheers
Scott
Out of those 2 I would personally go for the LG. The panasonic model is dated, the LG will have much more modern bits in it. Like for like I would ALWAYS take the Panasonic over the LG but the LG looks to be far better for me. I wouldn't bring the £60 into the decision personally
scotty71
Exactly scotts point above. LG all the way....... 720p over 1080p nahhhhhhhh Yes Panasonic have the rep and I would buy Pannys but its the LG for me on this one
SupraDan24
I'd go with the LG over the pani if it was me, the picture in "True Cinema" mode on the LG is meant to be pretty good. It has the same panel as the LG590 except the 590 has a few little extra's like THX and extra HDMI points. Properly calibrated, it should look pretty good. GazzaGSi
Cheers for the thoughts guys. The panny must be old because I can hardly find any info on google about it. Just wondered on image retention of the 2. Mainly for when logo's are static in the corner of a screen or footy scores etc.

pistonbroke
I still have the 55" Hitachi for £500 if you want it. It's in the for sale section.
RobD
I have a 52" LG and I love it! I bought it with the LG surround system and stand. With my ps3 xbox and wii all in black as well as the sky hd box, it looks the mutts!
Digsy
I bought an LG 50" plasma early this year with a similar spec (can't recall the model number) and it developed a line of stuck pixels across the screen within a week. Luckily John Lewis agreed to change it and I got a Panny of an equal spec which would normally have cost a couple of hundred quid more. Maybe not the fairest consumer test but I wouldn't buy another LG. Once bitten and all that.
Glanza_Mike
The LG's miles better matey

I've had my eye on it mate but I think its too big. And the frame looks quite thick too where the silver is and would look odd in the lounge. Cheers though. SupraDan24
Failures are always going to be a problem with Tv's i'm afraid. I wouldnt be worried, unless i had multiple failure of either the same TV or same brand.
Aero-M
LG seem rather good now, I have had mine for a year now and it's got a great picture. I know a few people with LG's and they all rate them. I also thought that LG make screens for a few manufacturers sets
Wez
For normal SD TV my none HD panny plasma pisses all over my full HD panny LCD. It depends what you are going to watch. Its only when watching something in 1080p the HD LCD looks better, that isnt very often.

I was tempted by that and the P50G20 but the TV isn't going to be used a great deal so think im better off going for the cheaper alternative. Also, richersounds have the LG in stock near me for £549, currys down the road it is £599 so hopefully if they live up to their price promise they will match it and knock 10% off the matched price meaning it will be nearer £500 for the LG. tooley
the lg isnt exactly 600hz its 3 lots of 200hz on the screen and it doesnt have the best audio output when running through a surround system...its not bad as such but you can get more volume out of the tv itself than running through a surround
Terminator
Go with the LG. Excellent set, worth the extra £.

Unfortunately it's only 10% of the difference which in this case would only be an extra £5 off.
GazzaGSi
Is it?! Balls, thought it was 10% off the price when price matched.
st3ven1
Yeah plenty of people have been caught out by that one, but it is definitely10% of the difference

I've just ordered from dixons for the LG in the first post with free delivery on sunday 16th. Saves going to the store and hangling / price matching etc and seems a good price with delivery included and quidco is if tracks. Thanks for all the help.
