shima60
At least your ok, it could have been a lot worse like the back end come out and cause a crash so got of lucky. Still a bit crap about the wheel though Any idea what caused the blow out?
Axle
Any idea what caused the blow out? Could have been a number of variables. OP- Did you recover any part of the tyre? What make was it out of interest? I believe most of the newer tyres now being made are XL (extra load) which i believe essentially means they are tougher. Would be interesting to know what profile and size tyre you were running etc. Above all - Luckily you're alive.

mistertwo
I remember when this happened to me when I was a passenger in a Skyline R33 GTR - it really scared the crap out of me and the driver. How we didn't end up in the central reservation that day I will never know..! Glad to hear you and the car are ok!
catfish man
cheers for the kind words dudes yep the wheel is broken and gone in the bin:( blokes down the tyre depo they think after looking at the damage it had been the inner rim tyre wall had been ripped by a nasty pot hole and not the fault of the tyre, and under weight, speed etc it had popped the tyre, also had got hot to the point it was melting the supra was snaking about all over the road but praise to god i got her in control ,i was worried about the oap who was in the passenger seat as she has just started to get back in a car since a few months ago on the m20 a polish trucker had drove in to the back of her car and she had to be cut free
j_jza80
I had a tyre blowout on the rear of my UK spec, outside of Paris a few years ago. It happened to to a bad repair done to one of the rear wheels (not visible from the outside, done by a previous owner ) I was doing 70, felt a wobble and pulled over. Couldn't find anything, so I set off again and then boom! There wasn't much left of the tyre! I was quite suprised how forgiving the Supra was. I had to drive back to York on it. In one day. In the rain...
