Digsy
I thought it sounded like Morgan Freedman at the start and the end

Alex
'nother vote for Morgan Freeman at the start and at the end! He's got the best voice over...er...voice. Well alongside James Earl Jones. Saw the film last night, really couldn't remember much about the whole plot and how it was supposed to go so went with an open mind. Have to say the attack was gripping and engrosing, my better half, found it hard to watch, think "horrific" was her phrase and I think that's apt. It was a great watch, but I don't know if there is any point in getting it on DVD, cause once you've seen it there isn't much to go back over IYSWIM. Great Film, but probably HAS to be seen on the big screen to have effect.
Wolf
Cool I had heard he died but just searched and you're right - he's not ... I am actually really glad to hear that as he's a brilliant actor...
Ian C
WOTW was supposed to end with a sudden stop - you leave the cinema thinking "OMG if they hadn't slipped up with the germs thang we were all dead" which is a lot more disturbing and thought-provoking than "America - Fuck Yeah!" like Independance Day was. Also, let's face it, the Martians a) won't fall for that again, and b) are still on Mars. Drawing their plans against us. So that should prey on your mind by the time you hit the car park I can't be the only one that thought it had "Independance Day" and "Signs" all over it Dude - the basic War of the Worlds plotline was written in the '30s. A shade before those two films... -Ian

First published in 1898, according to the blurb on Amazon.
Bobbeh
I enjoyed it until the end, just ended too abruptly as has been said, but true it may stick to the book it didnt feel like a complete ending considering how drawn out most of the movie was. Good fun though.
