turbonut
Driver side door lock jammed, I've taken the door panel off and the mechanism and latch are fine. Anyone know how to free it up or of a mechanic in the West Midlands area (preferrably Birmingham direction) who can sort it out? I've tried copious quantities of DW40 to no avail cheers Linda
Branners
Hi Turbonut, How often do you use the door lock? Over time the key wears down and eventually stops being the right shape to unlock it. Perhaps try the spare key in it?
turbonut
Good idea, I'll give it a go as soon as I can find the spare key! thanks JB
safcdixon
This happend to the girlfriends mondeo last week, she ended up snapping the key in the lock ended up costing 180quid to get it drilled and a new key made. The key was badly worn when you compare it to the new one
turbonut
To be honest I don't use the key: only the fob. When I blip the fob there is no 'clunk' of locks locking on the driver side although the passenger side is fine, hence thinking its a problem with a jammed d/s barrel
Branners
Hmm, if it wont unlock with the fob either then thats probably something else, but give the spare key a go anyway. Not sure if Ibrar can help, he is in east Birmingham. He's usually pretty good at finding somebody to fix most things. It does sound a bit as if the mechanism is jammed in some way and so the alarm cannot make it lock.
