Konrad
I think you are overcomplicating it Take drivers door card out, there is small white connector on the right side of the door with 3 cables going through it. Clean it, give it some water and rust repelant and check again
Supra Gaz
I'm gutted for you mate, I as hoping of would be a matter of 'call sparky - sparky comes - hand over shed loads of cash - cars fixed. But no. My locks are still playing up as well mate
Keefred
Is one of the wires that goes into the door lock solenoid in the drivers door the same colour ? Look at the solenoid and see. If it is thats one step further forward as you will know for sure that the wire thats split into 3 in your last picture does actually control the door lock. The only way you are going to know for sure is to actually look at the door motor and see what colour the wire is, something which I am not sure you have done yet ? If it is I would then trace this wire back from the door lock motor all the way to where it plugs into the drivers footwell, just in case where the plug with the melted wire in has different colours coming out of the back of it than goes into it, Id like to think that one of those 3 wires is the same colour from where you are holding it all the way to the door lock but you never know. The fact that its one wire split into 3 would make me also check what colour the one in the passenger door that goes to the solenoid is as well. I am thinking perhaps that the central locking, which as far as I know only works from the drivers door might have an extra wire on the drivers door lock, possibly the same colour as one of the ones that splits into 3, so that when you lock the drivers door with the key a contact is made from that to the control unit to some sort of change over relay which then sends a current or earths it for a second down the other 2 wires to lock the doors. ulysees
Right i found were the burnt wire stops burning, its just up in the dash about two feet from were it starts at the fuse box, it joins in to one wire along side another(2into1) so im gunna replace the knackered one and try it. I did take door card off again tody and checked all wires and plugs and gave them a squirt of wd40 all seems fine in both doors.
Supra Gaz
Did you have any luck once you replaced the wire mate? I took my door trims and most of the dash off today and looked at my wires, they look fine. I'm thinking of changing the central locking unit and then if I get no joy using a blowtorch on the car as I'm reaching the end of my patience.... Supra Gaz
As its so intermittant on yours it makes me think it is a loose or damaged connection. mine is just buggered. hopefully a new central locking unit will sort it, if not i will bring the blowtorch mate! TJP
Not sure if this will help at all but I had the same problem around this time last year. I did a search on here and quite a number of people have your or our problem. From memory mine and a few others central locking starts to play up when the temperature outside drops to around freezing????? ps so you will be fine in the summer :o)
