Skinnies that clear big brakes.

I was was looking for some skinnies for the front of my car for when im drag racing but if you are running big brakes there is not a lot of options.

 

I had heard that the weld 17x4.5 cleared uk brakes with a 20mm spacer so took a chance on these, clear my big brembos with a 25mm spacer so over the moon with that, i have some weld rears in 15x10 but now wide body they dont fit to well, so im looking for some matching 15x11 rears.

They look good, and a design that is uncomplicated to keep looking good too.

5 spokers are my favourites on a Supra :thumbs:

 

I agree. But I like big chunky stock style spokes like mine not little spindly ones.

 

Will be interesting to see what they look Nike with the tears. I love jamies rear... So to speak.

A full drag slick is on a whole new level to any radials! :)

 

The first few runs to find your settings are fun!

 

With your power and weight, with a full slick and skinnies you should be into the deep/low 9's!

I got them from a fellow member that decided against using them, i think summit sell them though.

If you do go with a full slick, and haven't tried them before, then take it steady on the first few runs untill you get them bedded in.

 

They can be quite interesting at the top end (or atleast that's what im finding out!).

 

Mine tends to be fine untill half track, and then trys to break traction, which isnt good at 120+mph. You'l probably find the rear trying to wander around aswell untill you get the right pressures in there, although the skinnies should help with that from what i understand.

 

Also i've been advised to match the tyres front and rear, so if running a non radial slick in the rear, to run a non radial in the front etc.

 

Another thing is to come off the throttle nice and slow after going across the line as ive found that it can kick the rear out alot easier than a radial will.

Thanks for the pointers, im not sure i will bother with non radials yet, some of the stories of losing control at high speed scare me, i did my 10.5 on my 17's with a poor 60ft, im hopeful i will get the 9 i want with my 15" et street radials and the more power i have since the 10.5, will try that for the first part of the year, may try non radials later in the year.

 

Websters best bet for the front tyres? thinking 26/4.5/17

I can't work out where the intake piping goes on that. In the front. Out the turbo into the cab or the car through the firewall. *magic happens* pipe comes up the other side of the car and into the intake. Is the intercooler in the boot or something? And the intercooler pipe goes right past that huge exhaust. Can't be good for temps/lag surely?
