Aerotop Dave
640-odd UK cars. How many imports do you think? Some people reckon there's 4000+ imports, but I think it's nearer to 1000. I was derided the last time I said this, but I really don't think there's that many being imported. If importing started around 1995 that's 100 a year. There just aren't that many people importing I don't think.
michael
I don't think anyone has ever been able to get definate numbers, the number of UKs has been put around the 600 mark I think but obviously this won't include Euro spec or the influx of the Japanese cars - DVLA would probably be the people best positioned to comment but I suspect they won't give anything away. A contact of mine once sourced the official sales figures for the MR2 from Toyota in Japan but I've since lost contact with her, maybe a polite email towards them might help though? (Skip Toyota GB, they won't care because it won't generate money!).

Guest Sakura
Would you be able to get the UK figures from the DVLA or the new insurance database? I don't know if they give out that kind of information, but equally I don't see how anyone can estimate the figures without knowing how many are registered here. They would also know the number of scrapped/written-off Supras.

Aerotop Dave
Hold on far, I'm only guessing on the imports matey! We know there's 640 odd UK cars as Toyota have revealed that much, so that figure is about right (give or take 20 cars). Although obviously we dunno how many are still on the roads. Imports? Finger in the air time.

far
Being in media/publishing Im always looking at angles for new publications I was toying with the idea of putting together a quarterly technical journal 'written by enthusiasts for enthusiasts' it would be a combination of technical articles such as 'work in progress' track day reports,'how to...' a day in the life of Paul E etc etc and of course advertising with free subscription to anyone who qualifies - in this case anyone with a supra. Looking at the figures and not being able to quantify the exact numbers its looking a bit unlikely now to do a Supra only quarterly, I might have to broaden it a but to be honest I think there is a knish out there still which even the 'jap tuner 'type mags dont serve. Also something I can read on the train without people thinking I am looking at a porn mag Any ideas welcome
