Lurch
Hello, Does anyone play only poker at all for money? What site is recommended? I looked at full tilt poker.com but it was all $ and would prefer an engilsh site. Also, what is it like playing for money online?
neo2810
Most of them operate in $$. It's hardly an issue. I've used most of the big ones at some point or other but I play on Partypoker mostly now because I like the interface and they have a steady stream of reasonably priced tourneys. I've use Full Tilt which is also one of the more popular but steer clear of PKR, it's a novelty which wears off very quickly (very slow play cause everyone roleplays every hand). icemanv6
I play online, I play HeadsUp SitNGo's currently $30 game's and moving up the stakes. Full Tilt Poker and Pokerstars are the one's where you will find without a doubt the most traffic (players). PKR is good if you are new, lot's of recreational player's play on there due to the software so it has some quite soft game's to win at. If your starting at low stake game's smaller site's will appeal, but the higher the stake's you go the less traffic there will be on the smaller site's and less spazzy player's so personally i'd stick to Full Tilt Poker or Pokerstars..also look into rakeback, if you don't know what it is, MAKE SURE you google it otherwise your missing out on money. Also if your new to poker and want some free help, send me a message. I can point you in the right direction to get you some free coaching which is what I did. I recommend that if you can get help to play you take it, it can save you a lot of money you'd otherwise lose, hope this helps.
Glanza_Mike
I play poker for a living and play on Pokerstars, but if i were you and just starting out i'd give Full Tilt a try because in general the player pool on Pokerstars is slightly better. If you decide to go for tilt make sure you get a rakeback deal like stated above. Oh and be sure to get a load of practice before starting to player higher games obviously, theres a hell of a lot to learn about poker good luck

Lurch
I've been playing poker at work for a few years with the lads for money and have a right laugh. But I'd like to start small as I'm guessing it will be alot harder online. and haven't got alot of money to lose. icemanv6 I may take you up on the offer, always good to get more hints n tips. Glanza_Mike... Is that your only 'job'? playing poker? Can you actually earn a living doing it? Pokerstars it is then...
icemanv6
Lurch if you haven't got much money to lose, send me a PM I will link you to a site + forum I am part of where you will be able to get a lot of help and some free coaching options as well, very friendly place and you will find many people who have come from a similar situation. Yes you can make a living doing it, but poker is not as easy as it looks it requires a real mental toughness, sometime's you can lose for days on end or even weeks depending how often you play, where you won't make a dime regardless of you getting your chips/money in as a favourite. Some of the guys on skype I talk to and I get to help me with my game play fulltime Lurch, one started from a $50 deposit I think in January last year started off at $2 game's and has made over $60k for last year including rakeback Glanza_Mike, what gametype do you play for a living, Cash fullring, SNG, MTTs etc? Glanza_Mike
Yea mate it's my only 'job' lol Pro player And Iceman i started out playing sit'n'go's 9-man's, but found i could make more at the 180-man turbos. So played a good few thousand of those and I've just joined deuces cracked to get involved in cash, i'm currently 12 tabling 200nl on stars. And live i play anything, MTT's and cash mainly. Because the live players are soooooooo much worse than the online guys.
