danny1987
A friend asked me what the difference was between the Subaru Impreza WRX and the STI and which one is best? I didn’t know so I thought ill ask you lot. Dan
Bailey.
I think the red tops have forged internals, and an active diff, the one I went in did anyway! Apart from the obvious appearance difference! If any, tell him to find a ra sti it is beast,'short ratio box and all extra like elec windows are stripped on ra models!
j_jza80
It depends what model, but some of the fairly modern ones have different gearboxes in the STis.
formatzero
Sti has about 260bhp wrx 220.I have driven my workmates sti and it's a quick a to b car, he says sti is the one to have withh ppp if you can get one.
kill1308
Standard WRX 225 bhp WRX with PPP 265 bhp Standard WRX STI 265 bhp STI with PPP 301 bhp I believe the internals are different on the STI but don't quote me on it Both are quick point-to-point cars and have a nice Boxer4 noise
Bailey.
I would choose a evo over a scooby every day of the week. Much more refined and tought IMO!
Suprab1
I drove a 03 WRX a few weeks ago & it's no where near the Evo or Supra. Infact we also have a 97 1.6 20v levin BZR & i would say the levin would stay with it or even pull a little on it. I was very disapointed with the subaru. danny1987
Thanks for your replies. He’s on about getting one. He wanted an Evo but they are to expensive and the Subaru's are more in his price range.
stinboy
Thanks for your replies. He’s on about getting one. He wanted an Evo but they are to expensive and the Subaru's are more in his price range. I would recommend the (fairly obvious) third alternative
Shane
My eldest has a long history of both wrx and sti models so I will ask him and get back to you. But I think from memory, apart from the power differences stated above, the sti has the uprated internals, larger intercooler, carbon factory strut brace, and a lightweight bonnet. snake
I think the sti has bigger brakes and after 04 the subaru has better wider suspension
