Do these make a noticeable difference?

 

Yes, they firm up the pedal feel and transfers more of the power to the brakes.

 

With the engine running get some one to press the brake pedal and see how much flex there is in the BMC.

I fitted one of these to my car last year, definately makes a difference with pedal feel. Have a look to see how much the master cylinder flexes when the brake pedal is applied. Just waiting on a price back from Japan for you Richard.

can you fit one of these if you have a strut brace?

That bracket looks a right dogs breakfast, and no strut ring fitted either!
