Hi Guys.

Im selling the Soop very soon as im going to be moving onto the property ladder and i am going to slightly downsize to a car the other half can use for about 6months to a year.

My choices are limited as im only gonna spend £5000.

Celica GT4

Pulsar GTIR

bit of a short list so if someone can advise on which may be the best choice or if i should add another car to the list i would be very grateful.

Just sold my rev 3 mr 2 gt tbar turbo and it was an absolute gem. Having not driven any of the others suggested I cant slate them, but the 200 sx is good for tail out action apparantly, but maybe the otherhalf isnt into that. If you are wondering why I sold the 2 its cos I needed the cash for a Supra TT6, if I could have kept the 2 I would have. I had no problems with the car and had it running just under 300fwhp and it handled so well.

I know its fwd, but a type R Integra could be had for that money, just about.

And they are crazy fun :D

I love the mr2 turbo too. I still fancy a 200sx, but they look so bland as standard and I dont want the expense and hassle of a kit and 18s.

Out of the 2 you listed, I'd have to go with the Toyota.

Yea, im just goin for an JDM integra type-r to a supra, it was my second integra (other was an sir-g) and they are truly a great car. Not RWD or Turbo, but still unbeliveably quick for a 1.8 N/A (cheap runnig cost). Super reliable and they just keep on revving....

I had a 1990 ST185 Celica GT-Four, and whilst they're uber reliable when stock, once you start to play with them you have to be carefull as they can very quickly go to pot. I've seen some right mingers.

If you decide that you want to get one, I can give you a list of "check 4's" or can direct you can try the GT4OC website.

Good luck.

Oh and PS, stock the GTI-R is quicker than the GT-4, just looks bloody ugly.

What do you want to know? I just sold mine after a year of owning and can say it was reliable, powerful in standard form but I would say go for the rev 3 onwards as they improved over the rev2 which you can see knocking around much cheaper than rev3's and up.

I havent driven a GT4 but was considering one, but after looking at the specs I thought it was a bit slow and heavy. Tuning wise the 2 is hard to work on, due to lack of space but you can do BPU stuff and ecu and get that type of power and more. Its mid engined rear wheel drive and you can shove a DV on to let those people know its not a normal 2! A Grand would see you into those power figures at a guess with ecu a little more plus once you start raising the boost you would want to change the intercooler which are shite in standard form, but dont let that deter you as I ran my 2 with higher boost and there were no problems.

If one is a better buy, cant say really. They both tend to be around the same price and use the same engine but I think the GT4 uses a chargecooler (not sure). IMO the 2 just cos its a little bit different even though it has been around a while but has to be rev 3 onwards.

cheers for that info. i think i need to drive both cars then make a decision from there.

both around the same money to buy and tune.

mr2 quicker but i lose some room.

but as you say the mr2 is a bit different and with a little bpu and a dv it should be a wicked little motor.
