Very appealing but a, sadly, flawed, analogy.

I imagine the guy only flashed because of the speed trap. I bet he doesn't flash everyone who is breaking the speed limit.

The bank robbery analogy only applies if you are only tipping off the potential robber because you're aware of a police ambush waiting for him, NOT becasue you think it is wrong to rob a bank. So you probably deserve to be punished too.

 

That said, I personally think this is all kinds of wrong because I don't morally agree with speed limits in the first place.

 

I bet he wasn't just flashing those who were speeding either though. So it's more like someone telling everyone who walks into a bank not to rob it.

 

I witnessed several transgressions of the law yesterday as I had to go on a bit of a journey. It's the first time I'd been to the place I went, so borrowed my Dad's Tomtom. Every time I approached a speed camera the Tomtom allerted me to it's presence a couple of hundred yards before. Not any different to what this chap was doing really, so the manufacturer of Tomtom should be also arrested for obstructing the police...
