Attero
Tesco in Havant 132.9 for their Super so sounds like you've got it cheaper on the Island at the moment Misread... it's cheaper where you are. It should be 134.9 here, since it was 131.9 before the VAT rise.
Abz
The big problem is, if petrol price is reduced, where they will get the tax money from, so something else will go up.... On the whole UK is below other european VAT rates, at the end of the day we will get hit with tax one way or the other.......... Some of them countries have decent wages to match the increases and the tax rates too Think it is £1.37 for VPower at the moment.

CJ
That is true too Is the Greece economy showing any signs of improvement CJ? It depends on how you look at it I suppose. If improvement is measured in a more sensible approach to spending, a ruthless cutback on waste and measures put in place to ensure the public sector is run more efficiently then the answer has to be yes. But you then have to temper that with higher unemployment, wage reductions / freezing, tax hikes (we currently pay 22% VAT) and other tax increases which has seen the rise in business closures escalate too. On our little island we too get affected as the price increases (tax and VAT etc) have (to a certain extent) to be passed on to the tourists. This coupled with a poor exchange rate makes us look less attractive as a holiday destination and sadly, that is the only industry on the island. Well sounds like the government are trying to sort out the mess, though like you said the places with only one form of income will suffer the worst. Talking about tourism not seen hardly any advertising from Greece for a while (On TV). They could do with bumping up their profile! I've never been but remember whilst growing Greece was the holiday destination to be! *Sorry small thread hi jack*
imi
Cameron and clegg probably don't know how much a pint of milk is let alone a litre of petrol,Its probably been a few years since they have had to purchase either. lets not pretend that it hasnt been steadily rising for the past 15 years. jagman
and still the energy companies retire record breaking profits year on year..... They need it , the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico for example - IIRC that oil well would have produced enough oil to run about 4-10% of the world demand for 6 years -then its gone never to return - investment of over 100 billion dollars needed to open the thing in the first place and costs are rising Demand is also rising in places like China and India and much number fiddling going on as to demand and production - see where we are going ? Shane
Not really if car is running on USED cooking oil, like my landcruiser I tend to run SVO in mine but today discovered that that too had hit a all time high at £1.06 a litre. Guess I need to look at the WVO route again, did it before but for the miles I do in the daily driver it seemed hardly worth all the effort and mess for me, but now it might just be. Keefred
Like Dnk I had my first moped in 78/79 and I think I used to pay 50p for half a gallon and a 'shot' of 2 stroke oil out of that pump thing that all forecourts used to have with the different ratio settings on the top, they used to have a man who put the petrol in for you as well in the old days ! The prices in south London went up to around £1.27 a litre on new years day then dropped back down to £1.22 again, since then they have gone up again an then back down to £1.24 I think but it does seem to vary massively round this way. What I don't understand is how when it was getting to £1.15 ish I am sure it was all over the papers everyday and there were going to be strikes and blockades and all sorts, now its nigh on £1.30 there is not a word anywhere. richarde7927
I filled up yesterday i had just under a 1/4 of a tank and it still took £71.00 to fill it , i have a jspec , i filled up with shell v-power at £1.31.9 (im in Hinckley ,leicestershire). Its getting silly now and something needs to happen , The hole country should not go to work for a week that would show them , no work getting done so that will cost the country millions and then no tax for them to have off your wages eather, double hit . Rich.
Westy
The price of super unleaded has been stupidly high for a while up here (Glasgow)...but it has def jumped more that 2.5% since the vat rise!!!! Cheapest I have seen is 130.9 at Shell but have seen as high as 135.9!!!! Crazy times!
dude
I would be if I was actually doing it. I just love that the potential is there. Been no cheap cooking oil in Asda for a while now, it works out 1.03 a ltr so soon they will put cooking oil up to the same as diesel. No other country would stand for it.
