Suprab1
I need to buy a new tool box & was thinking about Halfords Professional 5 Drawer Ball-Bearing Cabinet & Halfords Professional 7 Drawer Ball-Bearing Chest. Has anyone got these? Just want to know if they are any good or should i just spend more & get something like snap on? http://www.halfords.ie/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_11101_catalogId_15551_productId_209113_langId_-1_categoryId_212500
pjavon
I've got a base unit and mid chest which I've had for years, it's never broke on me and I've built a Kitcar, engines etc so it's had a fair bit of use. If it's only for hobbying stuff like me i think there fine for the money:)
hackin_n_bashin
I've got a set of 3 in the van. One of those, a 4 draw on top af that and a 6 draw flip top. Used daily in the van, full of tools that I can't be bothered to clean when I've finished a job! Great value for the money. Even the non ball bearing ones are pretty good, all seem to have a good build quality
JustGav
Before thinking you should go snap-on or mac, have you ACTUALLY seen their prices?? You can get a lot of halfords toolboxes for the same amount. That said I will be treating myself to a mac box at some stage (purely because my mate does them , although it will be a 2nd hand unit)
Paul
I got one of the top chests a few years back and it's well made, a mate at work also has had one for many years. Because of the quality we got the chest and base trolley for use at work when they were on offer in the summer, when we got them back and un-packed them there were several dented areas and twisted base panel on the chest, we also noticed that the quality is nothing like the ones we already owned ourselves. As they were for work we straightened them out and they'll do the job but I wouldn't have been happy had they been for me. They aren't bad but clearly they are made for Halfords by a different comany now or the spec has been lowered, if you decide to get one I'd take it out of the box in the shop as they seem to dent easily as the steel is much thinner than it used to be. This is what i'm afraid off. I might go into halfords & have a poke at one to get an idea of how flimsy they are.
